The hinge part contains a circular aperture having a circumferential extent greater than 180.degree. but less than 360.degree., with the resiliently yieldable fingers extending from the aperture at a circumferential opening in the aperture. The resiliently yieldable fingers define a throat within which the hinge pin is received in response to downward loading applied to the seat and/or cover. The resilient yielding of the fingers allows the seat and/or cover to assume full support on the bowl rim so that the undesired stress levels in the parts, including the hinges, are avoided. When the downward load is removed, the resiliently yieldable fingers urge the hinge pin back into the aperture, thereby slightly elevating the rear of the seat and/or cover.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1984Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Thetford CorporationInventor: John T. Patent number: 4517706Abstract: Cabinet hinge having a supporting arm which can be snapped onto the mounting plate. The supporting arm (16) of the hinge is adjustably fastened to the mounting plate (14) that is previously mounted on the supporting wall (12) of a cabinet, and it has a slot (34) which is open at the end remote from the hinge articulation or is provided with an enlarged pass-through opening to admit the head (38) of a mounting screw (40) driven into the mounting plate (14). The mounting plate (14) is provided with a spring catch (wire spring 72) projecting beyond its lateral surface and associated with an abutment on the confronting inside surface of the supporting arm (16). The position of this abutment with respect to the tip (78) of the spring catch is selected such that the tip engages the abutment as soon as the shank of the mounting screw (40) reaches the area of transition from the slot (34) to the pass-through opening (36) or open end, as the case may be, of the slot.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1983Date of Patent: May 21, 1985Assignee: Karl Lautenschlager KG, MobelbeschlagfabrikInventors: Karl Lautenschlager, Horst Lautenschlager, Gerhard Lautenschlager

Patent number: 4345354Abstract: This invention relates to a hinge mechanism for joining a first member to a second member. The first member, or a cassette cover of a tape recorder is elastically deformable. A pair of pins are coaxially fixed to the cassette cover. Each one of the pins has a base end fixed to the cassette cover and a free end. The second member, or a housing of the tape recorder has a recess which is defined by a bottom surface and a peripheral surface. A pair of grooves are formed in the housing. Each one of the grooves has an upper end portion which opens in the peripheral surface and rotatably receiving one of the pins. Each one of the grooves also has a lower portion which opens in a portion of surfaces of the second member which is located in the direction of the depth of the recess. A pair of flanges are formed at the base ends of the pins.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1980Date of Patent: August 24, 1982Assignee: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hiroki Ichikawa

Patent number: 4326307Abstract: A clamp is provided for detachably securing a toilet seat to a toilet bowl. A spherically headed bolt is securely bolted into each of the holes in the flange portion of the rear of the upper part of the bowl so that the spherical head of the post extends out beyond the upper part of the bowl. Fasteners, each having downwardly depending wall circumscribing a socket for mateably receiving one of these projections and securing it therein against unpurposeful disengagement, are associated with the toilet seat, and may rotatably engage the hinge shaft found to the rear of many types of toilet seats. By lifting on a finger grip ledge extending out at the rear of each of the fasteners, the fasteners and the bolt heads are disengaged, thereby detaching the toilet seat from its position on the top part of the bowl. This device, by permitting such easy disengagement of the toilet seat, facilitates cleaning and hygiene.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1980Date of Patent: April 27, 1982Inventors: Kenneth D. Patent number: 4319794Abstract: A cabinet with a glass door is formed by inserting into the top and bottom walls of the cabinet a hinge part composed of a bushing and two elastic members with projections. Inserted between these elastic members and secured against the bushing by them is a hinge post which is a part of a second hinge part that has a receiving slot. The receiving slot is operative for receiving the glass door which is secured in the pocket by a clamping screw. In this way the door may be easily and quickly installed and removed.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1980Date of Patent: March 16, 1982Assignee: Paul Hettich & Co.Inventor: Jurgen Bachor
