  • Patent number: 4997206
Abstract: A loose-leaf binder is disclosed, such as a loose-leaf photo album or a loose-leaf file binder, on which is disposed a plurality of hinge members having a pillar at one end and an axially concave knuckle at the other end. A longitudinal slit is formed on the outer wall of the concave knuckle and an extension bore is formed axially in the concave knuckle so that a pillar may be snapped into the concave knuckle via the longitudinal slit and the free end of the pillar can be inserted into the extension bore so as to increase the radial engaging force between the hinge members.

  • Patent number: 4984333
Abstract: A separable hinge connection comprising a leaf member and a pin means, the leaf member has a first hooked end which with a bridge overlying a body part of the leaf member couples the leaf member to the door and permits predetermined limited movement between the leaf member and the bridge and a second hooked end for releasable engagement with a hinge pin of the pin means, first and second stops on the pin means respectively limit rotational movement of the door and prevent vertical movement of the door for all but the final portion of the door opening movement, first and second restraining means respectively prevent and restrain the second hooked end from disengagement from the hinge pin, the second restraining means has a height above which said leaf member can be raised when the door is in said last portion of the door opening movement thereby allowing the leaf member to pass over the said second restraining means to uncouple the leaf member from the hinge pin.

  • Patent number: 4932101
Abstract: A hinge is provided between bodywork and a door of a motor vehicle. A stationary bracket is fixed to an upright of the bodywork and includes a base with a hole. A movable bracket is fixed to the door and a pin connects the stationary and movable brackets. A torsion bar has a wheel/cam follower for engagement with a cam on a connection element. The stationary bracket, torsion bar, cam follower and connection element comprise a sub-assembly and the cam and cam follower are located intermediate the height of the hinge. The movable bracket includes a boss with an opening. Upon linear movement in a direction parallel to the hinge axis, the boss may be disposed about the pin with a connection element and movable bracket cooperable to prevent relative rotation therebetween whereby accurate assembly is achieved.

  • Patent number: 4888854
Abstract: A pair of separable hinge assemblies mount a seat cushion on a vehicle for positioning between a normal seating mode and a folded stored mode. The hinge assemblies each comprise a body-half hinge plate mounted to the vehicle body and a seat-half hinge plate mounted to the seat cushion hardened undersurface. The body-half plate has upstanding side webs each formed with open end mirror image slots adapted to releasably capture a pintle pin extending transversely between parallel ear portions of the seat-half hinge plate. Each ear portion includes mirror image first and second cam shoulders adapted to frictionally retain the hinge assemblies in their respective normal or folded modes. Upon pivoting the seat cushion to an intermediate position both sets of cam shoulders of each seat-half hinge plate are spaced from their associated body-half plate camming surfaces allowing the separation of the hinge assemblies and removal of the seat cushion.

  • Patent number: 4881298
Abstract: First and second hinge leaves are mounted respectively on the body and the door with one hinge leaf having a pivot pin and the other hinge having a hinge aperture adapted to engage the pivot pin to establish a door hinge pivot axis. The first and second leaves have flanges which interengage one another through the normal range of pivoting movement of the door between open and closed position so as to maintain the engagement between the hinge aperture and the pivot pin. The door is separable from the body by pivoting the door beyond the range of normal pivoting movement to disengage the bearing portions of the hinge leaves from one another and then lifting the door axially of the hinge pin axis to disengage the hinge aperture and the pivot pin. The separable door hinge also includes an offset auxiliary pivot axis provided by an alignment abutment on one of the hinge leaves axis and an alignment notch provided on the other of the hinge leaves.
