The spring is attached to the top of the stationary leaf and has a stationary end and a moving end. The pivot pin assembly connects the stationary leaf and the moving leaf and allows the moving leaf to slide relative to the stationary leaf. The guide pin assembly extends through the moving end of the spring, the stationary leaf and the moving leaf to connect the stationary leaf, the spring and the moving leaf and allows the moving leaf to slide and turn relative to the stationary leaf.

    Abstract: A suspension mechanism is provided for a hinged part, such as the engine hood of an agricultural tractor. The top of the engine hood is pivoted on an axle via a forked bearing. A follower on the bottom of the engine hood is guided in a track on the vehicle tractor frame. A support strut is provided at the front end of the hood. So long as the support strut is attached, the hood can pivot about the axle and the follower will move in the guide track on the frame, but the hood cannot be removed because the follower cannot leave the track. To remove the engine hood, the support strut is detached from the hood. The follower then can pivot entirely free of the track and the hood can simply be lifted off of the axle support. The support strut preferably is an outwardly biased pre-loaded gas pressurized spring reaching its shortest length somewhere between the open and closed positions of the hood. The spring then will bias the hood towards its open and closed positions.

    Abstract: A floating hinge of the type which is composed of a lower member and an upper member each having a surface face and a channel including a pair of guideways located at their distal ends. A first arm and a second arm are employed to connect the upper member and the lower member and to provide movement of the members between an open position and a closed position. The first arm has a fixed end pivotably fixed to the lower member and a sliding end pivotably and slidably fixed to the upper member. The second arm has a fixed end pivotably affixed to the upper member and a sliding end pivotably and slidably fixed to the lower member. The sliding ends of the arms are pivotably and slidably affixed to their respective upper or lower member by a pin engaging an eccentrically fixed orifice of a pair of floating hinge slides fitted within the guideways of the channels of the upper and lower members. Means can be used to secure the upper member to the lower member when the hinge is in the closed position.

One of the slots is configured as the arc of a circle while the other slot is oriented in nonparallel diverging relation to said one slot and defines a single location, e.g., the innermost end of said other slot, about which said one slot is concentric. The pin joint can be employed to effect rapid engagement between an antenna reflector and an antenna support structure.
