Hinge Pin Movable Along Slot Patents (Class 16/361)
  • Patent number: 8065780
Abstract: A collapsible device includes a base, a cover, and a hinge. The hinge includes a first connecting member fixed to the base, a second connecting member defining a through hole, a sleeve member fixed to the second connecting member, a shaft movably mounted to the first connecting member, and a fastener. The sleeve member defines a spiral slide groove therein. A clamping protrusion extends from the first connecting member for slidably engaging in the slide groove. The shaft includes a fixing portion rotatably passed through the sleeve member and the through hole. The fastener is fixed to a distal end of the fixing portion. The second connecting member is fixed to the cover. During the rotation of the cover relative to the base via the hinge, the cover is synchronously moved transversely relative to the base along the axial direction of the hinge.

Abstract: The present invention relates to electrical enclosures having a cabinet and a door connected by hinges and in particular to a hinge which allows a door, while closed, to be flush with a surface that surrounds the perimeter of the cabinet door opening. The hinge system utilizes a spring that pushes the door in a direction that is generally normal to and away from the cabinet, creating a space between the peripheral flange on the door and the surface that surrounds the cabinet door opening thus allowing the door to swing freely as it is opened and closed. The door can be held closed by use of various latching systems. While the door is in the closed position, latches near the hinges will compress the hinge springs, eliminating the space between the door and the cabinet opening.

  • Patent number: 6347818
Abstract: A hold open arm assembly for a non-vertically hinged door prevents a door for a roof or floor opening from closing unexpectedly and allows one-handed operation. The assembly includes an elongated arm that bears directly against a stop aligned with the axis of the arm when a closing force, such as a wind load, is applied directly to the door. The arm has a guide that engages a guide slot in a bracket attached to the door. The guide slot is tapered and widens near the stop. When a closing force is applied to a handle connected to the arm, the guide moves parallel to the guide slot and the arm clears the stop, allowing the door to close. When the closing force is applied to the door, and not the handle, the guide moves perpendicular to the guide slot so that the arm engages the stop. The guide is provided with a low friction roller bearing for smooth operation.

Abstract: A hinge is provided at an edge of a container and a cover of the container. The hinge is designed such that the edge of the container can be both lifted off from the edge of the container and folded away. The hinge is thus especially suitable for incubators in order to guarantee simple and rapid access to the premature or newborn patient. The pivoting movement of a second member (4) is limited by two stop positions I and II, of which the stop position I defines a stable position of the cover of the container on the edge of the container, fixed by the inner part (8) and the outer part (9). The closed container can be opened from the stop position I by lifting off the cover of the container, and the other stop position II defines a stable position of the cover of the container folded away from the edge of the container with the container opened, likewise fixed by the inner part (8) and the outer part (9).

  • Patent number: 6312035
Abstract: An electric vehicle body has a curved portion provided with an opening. A storage compartment communicates with an inside of the body through the opening. A lid is disposed along the curved surface of the body to pivot about hinges to open and close the storage compartment. In one embodiment, each hinge includes a hinge pin provided on a side wall of the lid and a slotted aperture formed in a side wall of the storage box. The hinge pin is fitted into the long aperture in such a manner as to rotate and slide within the slotted aperture. As the lid is being opened, an edge of the rear cover proximate the lid comes into abutment with an edge of the lid to push the lid and hinge pin along a longitudinal direction of the long aperture.

  • Patent number: 6292981
Abstract: This invention relates to hinges in general. More particularly, the invention is concerned with hinges wherein it is desired to have no parts of the hinge visible on the outside of a door or enclosure, where, typically in prior art hinges, a hinge pin is located about which the door rotates about the enclosure frame. The hinge of the present invention is visible from only one side of a door and has a first crescent member having a mounting means for mounting to the door and an arcuate cutout, the arcuate cutout describing a radius about a point that is an actual hinge point of the door relative to the frame, a second crescent member having a mounting means for mounting to a frame, and a pair of protruding cylindrical members adapted to be received within the arcuate cut out, the cylindrical members adapted to secure the first crescent member to the second crescent member. The first crescent member is movable about the actual hinge point with respect to said second crescent member.

Abstract: A hinge (10) for upwardly moving and rotating a closure panel (20) of a base (14) is provided to improve access and utilization of the area covered by the closure panel (20). The hinge (10) includes two brackets, a closure panel bracket (18) mountable to the closure panel (20) and a base member bracket (12) mountable to the base (14). A cooperative tripartite set of links are disposed between the brackets and are operatively connected to a biasing member (100). The biasing member (100) urges the links to upwardly translate and rotate the closure panel bracket (18) from the base member bracket (12). The set of links include a biasing link (76), an intermediate link (74), and an anchoring link (72). The link set is adapted for cooperative movement so as to facilitate an upward rotational and translational progression of the closure panel (20) in relation to the base (14).

  • Patent number: 6243920
Abstract: The hinge includes a first flange and a second flange which pivot and translate with respect to each other. The first flange includes a first laterally offset pivot axis. The second flange includes a second laterally offset pivot axis and a translational path. Additionally, a pivot plate is provided with first and second parallel passageways. The first laterally offset pivot axis of the first flange engages the first parallel passageway of the pivot plate and the translational path of the second flange. The second laterally offset pivot axis of the second flange engages the second parallel passageway of the pivot plate. Initially relative pivoting of the first flange and the second flange causes the first laterally offset pivot axis of the first flange and the first parallel passageway of the pivot plate to translate within the translational path. Subsequent relative pivoting of the first flange and the second flange causes the pivoting about the first laterally offset pivot axis.

Abstract: Disclosed is a front-mounted hinge for mounting a door to a vehicle structure. The hinge includes a housing, a translating base, a hinge strap, and a cover assembly. The housing mounts to the exterior surface of the vehicle structure, and the hinge strap mounts to the exterior face of the door. The translating base is slidably mounted to the interior surface of the housing. The translating base moves relative to the housing between an abutting position, in which the translating base abuts a mounting plate of the housing, and an elevated position, in which the translating base is moved away from the mounting plate. The hinge strap is pivotally connected to the translating base so that when the hinge strap is pivoted, the translating base is caused to move between the abutting and elevated positions and the door moves between closed and open positions.

These cavities have a circular curvature centered on a vertical axis of rotation that lies beyond the door and frame. The sleeve elements are hollow and also formed as arcuate structures that are mounted to move within the cavities in the cylindrical body elements in reciprocal fashion relative thereto. The sleeves move between closed positions retracted completely into the body elements and extended positions projecting therefrom. The arcuate slide has opposing ends that are respectively mounted to the sleeve elements in telescoping fashion.
