Patent number: 10279570Abstract: A composite board with a multilayer laminated facer is presented having a nonwoven, a first polymer layer, and a second polymer layer. The laminate may be printed on the nonwoven, on the upper surface of the first polymer layer or inverted printed on the backside of an applied film. A number of configurations for the polymer layers are disclosed. The laminate may include exposed fibers on the lower surface or the nonwoven may be saturated. A removable peel-ply may be included. By controlling the placement and thickness of the polymer layers it is possible to tailor additive in the polymers such as colorants, opacifiers, UV stabilizers, and fire retardants to improve quality and reduce costs. In an alternate embodiment of the present invention, a first polymer layer is applied to the topside of the nonwoven and the second polymer is laminated to the first polymer layer as a preformed film. The laminated facer is thermally or adhesively bonded to the composite board.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2014Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Inventors: Thomas Miller, Timothy Johnson

Patent number: 6630094Abstract: A tear-resistant flexible hinge structure is placed between a pair of substantially rigid panels so as to permit the panels to be hinged one with respect to the other, where the flexible hinge is formed from a plastics material such as polyvinyl chloride. The hinge structure is formed under heat and pressure so as to comprise at least three parallel rows of alternating flat and raised portions, in staggered relationship. This causes a structure whereby any rip or tear which starts in the formed flexible hinge cannot continue because it will encounter a discontinuity in the configuration and thickness of the material, which precludes further propagation of the rip or tear. Typically, after the hinge structure has been formed, it is configured in a semi-circular cross section, re-heated and cooled, so as to set and have a memory in its closed configuration as opposed to the originally pre-formed flat, open configuration.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2001Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Assignee: Vidpro International, Inc.Inventors: Brian Abramson, Steven Ferguson

Patent number: 4817241Abstract: To be able to mount a mitered door to a mitered wall and open it as wide as possible, and for keeping the miter joint as tight as possible, a hinge for the door comprises two base parts or inner and outer housings which are likewise mitered, making close contact with each other in the "closed position" of the hinge and being coordinated with the miter plane of the piece of furniture or the like. The two base parts are interconnected by long brackets and short brackets, the long brackets forming crosses and being connected by a pin. The inner housing is adjustable relative to the outer housing in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction, each by given amounts. Each adjustment is made via a turnable pinion acting upon a rack of a first intermediate member. The adjustment of the inner housing relative to the outer housing is achieved via the intermediate members, each of which is retained in one direction.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1987Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: Kaefele, KGInventors: Gerhard Koch, Roland Holzle

Patent number: 4809402Abstract: A high strength composite piano hinge having an integral structure and of particular utility in aircraft, formed of two similar half portions each comprising a flange and an integrally formed loop, the integral flange and loop comprised of composite tape, fabric or filament, formed of fiber reinforced heat curable resin such as graphite fibers impregnated with epoxy resin. The loop can be formed in one embodiment by wrapping the tape or fabric around a pin, with the flanges of the hinge secured together, as by curing the composite. Stitching can be provided across the flanges adjacent to the loop, to reinforce the loop, and prevent peeling of the composite laminates or plies. The thickness of the flanges can be equal to or smaller than the outer diameter of the loop. Patent number: 4566150Abstract: An improved hinge for a collapsible ladder includes a pivot pin which has a sufficiently simple construction to permit it to be fabricated by die-casting on a cost-competitive basis. The simple construction is made possible by an improved axial detent arrangement for a shaft which rotates and slides within the hub and to which the hinge locking pins are secured. The detent arrangement includes a detent bore extending radially biased against the shaft. A suitable detent recess in the shaft is angularly aligned with the detent bore for each locking position of the shaft. Axial alignment of the bore and a recess is achieved by fully extending the shaft out of the hub against the restoring force of a bias spring in the hub. The recess and bias member are contoured to permit disengagement of the detent by rotation of the shaft but not by axially applied forces.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1983Date of Patent: January 28, 1986Assignee: Little Giant Industries, Inc.Inventor: Leland H. Patent number: 4451097Abstract: A track-laying tractor drive track is composed of a plurality of sections which each include a link and a grouser bolted together in sandwiching relationship to a pair of side-by-side disposed flexors. The flexors each include a plurality of superposed, resilient plates encased in an elastomeric material. A lost motion connection between the plates and the link and grouser acts such that tensile loads are simultaneously carried by at least two plates both when the flexor is flat and when the flexor is bent without the plates becoming overstressed when bent. Each link includes first and second transverse bars respectively, adapted for entering adjacent receptacles formed by the teeth of a drive sprocket. A wear cap is held in place on the first transverse bar by adjacent grousers of the track while the second transverse bar includes teeth for cleaning material from the sprocket receptacles.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 1982Date of Patent: May 29, 1984Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: William P.
