Patent number: 10973724Abstract: A casket includes two side panel structures, two end panels, and a bottom panel. Each end panel is operably coupled to both of the side panel structures. The bottom panel, the two side panel structures and two end panels form, at least in part, a casket container configured to receive adult human remains. Each side panel structure includes a fixed member and a movable member. Each movable member is coupled to one of the fixed members such that each movable member is rotatable relative to the fixed members between a first position and a second position. When each of the movable members is in the first position, the outer surfaces of the movable member and the fixed member are substantially coplanar. When each of the movable members is in the second position, the outer surfaces of the movable member and fixed member are not substantially coplanar.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2018Date of Patent: April 13, 2021Assignee: Vandor CorporationInventors: Gary L. Patent number: 8595908Abstract: A casket includes a lid and a container. The container is configured to receive the lid in a first configuration for shipping, and in a second configuration for funereal purposes. In general, the lid in the first configuration is detached and inverted with respect to the second configuration, particularly when the lid is closed in the second configuration.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2010Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignee: Vandor CorporationInventors: Gary L. Publication number: 20090235491Abstract: A handle arrangement for a container for a deceased, the handle arrangement including a side wall of the container, and a handle assembly, and a slidable linkage arrangement. The side wall includes at least a first opening. The handle arrangement, the handle assembly includes a gripping surface and a connector, the connector including a first connector end disposed proximate a top of the container, and a second connector end disposed proximate a bottom of a container. The connector is rotatably connected to the side wall, the rotatable connection defining a pivot point that is closer to the first connector end than to the second connector end. The slidable linkage arrangement has a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion therebetween. The first end is operably coupled to the connector at a position closer to the second connector end than to the first connector end. The intermediate body extends through the first opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 19, 2009Publication date: September 24, 2009Inventor: Gary L. Cox

Patent number: 7308742Abstract: A handle hardware assembly for attaching a handle to the sidewall of a casket. The hardware assembly comprises a lifting arm and clevis each having a pair of pivot arms or flanges. Each clevis pivot flange has a protrusion which is engageable with three radially spaced depressions of a corresponding lifting arm pivot arm. The selected depression the protrusion is engaged in determines the fixed position of the handle relative to sidewall of the casket. Also, a bolt is insertable from inside the casket such that the sharp end of the bolt is between the clevis pivot flanges to avoid injury to a funeral director or others.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2006Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Assignee: Matthews Resources, Inc.Inventor: Craig H. Patent number: 6754940Abstract: A combination of a casket and reattachably removable hardware for lifting the casket, including an aperture formed through a casket sidewall, a generally circular plate defined between a first radius and a second radius, an elongated lifting member having a first end, an internally threaded cavity formed in the first end, and an externally threaded connecting member. The plate is positioned adjacent the aperture and when the externally threaded connecting member extends through the aperture, the first end of said elongated lifting member rotatably removably engages the connecting member to detachably connect the elongated lifting member to the casket.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2002Date of Patent: June 29, 2004Inventor: Robert J.
