  • Patent number: 6145627
Abstract: A pressure fluid-driven apparatus includes a zero point position-determining mechanism, including an oil supply-adjusting knob formed with an arrow-shaped recess for indicating a zero point position, an insert member internally fitted into a hole of the oil supply-adjusting knob, a stopper for setting an assembled state of the oil supply-adjusting knob and the insert member to be at a zero point position, and a first spline section and a second spline section fitted to one another to determine the position so that the zero point position of the recess corresponds to that of a holder.

  • Patent number: 6125511
Abstract: A handle piece (15) for application to the cross bar handle (14) of a domestic hose cock comprises a unitary plastics moulding comprising an open bottomed shell (16) having an upper surface sized to fit into the palm of the hand. Formations within the shell define a recess adapted to receive the cross bar handle and comprise opposed pressure pads (19,20) at or near each end of the recess adapted to bear against respective end portions of a cross bar handle when homed in said recess. Two opposed resilient flanges (22) resiliently clasp the cross bar handle intermediate its ends to retain the handle piece in position upon and shrouding the cross bar handle.

  • Patent number: 6108871
Abstract: An apparatus in connectible to a steering wheel for aiding disabled drivers. The apparatus includes a base having a first part and a second part for moving with a respect to one another. The base defines a steering-wheel-receiving aperture between the first and second parts for allowing the base to substantially sheath a portion of the steering wheel. A hinge connection is formed between the first and second parts of the base allowing pivotal movement with respect to one another. The hinge connection is formed along a common edge portion of the first and second parts for allowing placement of the base with respect to the steering wheel. A latch releasibly retains the first and second parts of the base with respect to one another. The latch is connected to the first and second parts opposite from the hinge axis. A knob is connected to the base for gripping by the driver with one hand for controlling movement of the steering wheel when the base is attached to the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 6073312
Abstract: A D-shaped retaining spring couples a knob to a shaft. The spring has a flange abutting the end face of the knob to fix the spring position in a cavity of the knob. Alternatively, instead of the flange, the inner end of the spring abuts a shoulder in the cavity to fix the spring position. In either case, the inner end of the spring has a tab extending radially inward at a location spaced from the cavity end wall to define a stop for the end of the shaft thereby holding the knob where it can protrude from an instrument panel for normal operation. An axial impact force on the knob causes the tab to yield, allowing the knob to slide further onto the shaft and into the panel for the purpose of avoiding injury due to striking the knob during a crash.

  • Patent number: 6014984
Abstract: The valve comprises an operating wheel connected by a connecting rod to an opening and closing member. The valve is sealed by a stuffening box fixed into the upper part of the body around the rod. The stuffening box has a polygonal head so that it can be screwed and unscrewed. However the head is not accessible using a conventional spanner so as to prevent a non-specialist form slackening of the stuffing box and avoid him risking an accident.

  • Patent number: 6012194
Abstract: A paint brush handle for comfortably fits in the hand of a user. The handle includes first and second faces, opposite first and second ends, first and second sides, and a longitudinal axis extending between the first and second ends. An insertion portion is located adjacent the first end. The insertion portion is designed for insertion into the ferrule. The insertion portion has a generally rectangular cross section taken transverse the longitudinal axis, and a thickness defined between the first and second faces. The first and second faces have generally flat regions along the insertion portion. A butt portion is located adjacent the second end. The butt portion is designed for positioning in the palm of a user. The butt portion has a generally circular cross section transverse the longitudinal axis. The butt portion has a maximum thickness defined between the first and second faces. A middle portion is interposed between the insertion portion and the butt portion.

  • Patent number: 6003206
Abstract: The control knob engages, on its interior, a translucent polycarbonate jewel body collar assembly of a first color, such as white, which, in turn, provides a housing for a translucent polycarbonate jewel LED holder assembly. The LED emits light, possibly modified by the jewel LED holder assembly, of a second color, such as blue or blue-green. This second color can be varied in intensity and hue by varying the polarity and resistance of the LED. The jewel body collar assembly includes a collar to engage the interior cylindrical support section of the control knob and a housing assembly to engage the jewel LED holder assembly. The jewel body collar assembly further includes a ridge which protrudes through a slot in the sidewall and front face of the control knob thereby forming an indicator for the control knob. In ambient illumination, such as during the day, the indicator appears to be the color of the jewel body collar assembly, such as white.
