Loop-type Handle Patents (Class 16/444)
  • Patent number: 6223397
Abstract: A handle which can be permanently attached to a separate blow-molded plastic container. The handle has a contoured portion which comfortably confronts the palm and fingers of a hand of a person lifting the container. The handle is lightweight, injection molded in simple molds, and stackable in a uniform manner so that a stack of the handles can be efficiently stored, transported, and readily machine fed to automated handle-to-bottle attachment equipment. The handle may also be made from recycled plastic for food application.

  • Patent number: 6173477
Abstract: A grip member has a grip proper (1) made of a shape-memory resin in the shape of a bar, a connecting pin (4) disposed in one terminal part of the grip proper, a forked part (3) formed integrally in the other terminal side of the grip proper, and an annular part (2) formed integrally slightly toward one end of the grip proper (1) and adapted for enabling the forked part (3) to twine thereon. The grip member is enabled to cope easily with a delicate change in the gripping condition by heating the grip proper (1) and the vicinity thereof to a temperature surpassing the glass transition point of the shape-memory resin thereby endowing the shape-memory rubber with a rubbery state, causing the forked part (3) to twine itself around the annular part (2) in such a manner as to impart the shape of a loop to the grip proper.

  • Patent number: 6151759
Abstract: A pair of finger rings used for mounting around finger holes in a rubber boot used with a water ski, a wake board and the like. The two finger rings include a first annular mounting plate and a second annular mounting plate. The two mounting plates are identical in structure. The first and second mounting plates include a first ring hole and a second ring hole. The first and second ring holes are dimensioned for indexing around the finger holes in the boot. The two mounting plates include a plurality of outwardly extending male posts and female posts. The male posts on the first mounting plate are dimensioned for receipt in the female posts of the second mounting plate. Likewise, the male posts of the second mounting plate are dimensioned for receipt in the female posts of the first mounting plate. During installation of the finger rings, the first mounting plate is positioned on one side of rubber boot with the first and second ring holes disposed next to and around the finger holes in the boot.

  • Patent number: 6106055
Abstract: A grab handle assembly for attaching a grab handle to a vehicle roof. The grab handle assembly comprises a mounting clip having a fastener that passes through the aligned openings in the headliner and a vehicle roof bracket to secure the mounting clip to the vehicle roof and to additionally mount the headliner to the vehicle roof. The mounting clip further includes a lug extending downwardly from a lower surface of the mounting clip. The grab handle has opposing ends that terminate in a planar tab with an opening, which is sized to receive the lug. To connect the mounting clip and the grab handle, the lug is inserted through the opening in the grab handle and the mounting clip and grab handle are rotated relative to each other approximately 90.degree. to connect the grab handle and the mounting clip.

  • Patent number: 6076233
Abstract: A grab rail assembly for a vehicle includes a base element, a handle, a pivot pin, a cantilevered spring, and a fastener. The base element is engageable with a structural portion of the vehicle. The pivot pin is operatively connected to the handle for pivotally connecting the handle to the base element. Further, the cantilevered spring has a flat leg portion for bearing against flat surfaces of the pivot pin in order to maintain the handle in either a stowed position or an extended position. Furthermore, a fastener is provided for fixing the cantilevered spring and the base element to the structural portion of the vehicle. The pivot pin may also support a hook on which coats and other articles may be hung. The hook is pivotally supported by the pivot pin such that the hook may be positioned in one of a plurality of discrete positions by a detent mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6048125
Abstract: An article includes an articulation pin (4) engaged in first and second elements (2,3A), to secure the same together, with a tongue and groove respectively formed in the elements and pin to prevent relative rotation. A blocking arrangement fixes the second element and the pin to prevent relative rotation when they are in a predefined relative axial and angular position. The first and second elements (2,3A) and also the pin (4) cooperate so that the application of a force between the first elements (2) and the second element (3A) at least equal to a predetermined threshold, when the pin (4) and the second element (3A) are in the predefined relative axial and angular position, produces a relative axial movement between the pin and the second element, freeing the blocking arrangement so that the pin is free to rotate in the second element.

  • Patent number: 6032334
Abstract: A handle apparatus includes a spring member formed of a wire rod is bent in an approximately U-shape. Both tip end portions of the spring member formed in the approximately U-shape are bent approximately at a right angle and are shaft portions for rotating the approximately U-shaped portions. Both the shaft portions are set such that the axial lines of the shaft portions are not in conformity with each other. Both the shaft portions are made to be members for generating a biasing force in accordance with rotating positions. The spring member 3 is used as a member for generating the biasing force for performing a pop-up operation. A base member 4 and a handle grip member 2 are connected to each other through a pair of spring members 3. The handle grip member is held on a side of the base member against the biasing of the spring members by a lock mechanism 50 arranged on the base member side.
