Abstract: There is provided a device to facilitate closing doors for people who use wheelchairs or have other mobility challenges. The device can be secured to an internal or external door surface using conventional means, at a height similar to the height of a typical door handle, but closer to the hinges than a typical door handle. The device comprises a base portion for securing the device to the door surface, an arm extending from the base portion, and a handle at the distal end of the arm. During operation, the device allows a person in a wheelchair to close the door by grabbing the handle of the device without positioning the wheelchair within the door frame. There is also provided a door with a device as described above.

Abstract: A knob for mounting on a control lever includes a knob body and a cavity formed in the knob body extending from a lower end of the knob body having a lower opening. The knob also includes a cantilever arm within the cavity connected to an interior connection portion of the knob body remote from the lower opening and extending substantial parallel to an interior of the knob body to the lower opening. The cantilever arm includes a projection formed on a side of the cantilever arm to engage a connecting portion of the control lever.

Abstract: A hand operated reaching device is provided that comprises a rigid rod member, a handle coupled to the rigid rod member, and an attachment head coupled to the rigid rod member. The attachment head comprises an attachment mechanism configured to engage a pull device coupled to a door of an elevated doorway, such as an attic door. When a downward force is applied to the hand operated reaching device while the attachment mechanism is engaged with the pull device, the downward force causes the door to open downward. A system is further provided that comprises the hand operated reaching device, the pull device, and an optional fastener for fastening the pull device to a door of an elevated doorway.

Abstract: A self-affixing, removable, one-piece handle can be applied and removed from an item, such as a shopping cart, stroller, or the like, or the handle can be applied and removed from any number of items, such as the shoulder straps of a diaper bag or the loop handles of a set of shopping bags, or the like. By being self-affixing, the handle may be attached and removed from the item without the need for tools or any additional items, such as clamps, screws, adhesive, or the like. The handle may provide a link between the shopping cart or stroller and a child. Typical shopping carts or strollers do not provide a suitable location for a child to hold onto while walking alongside. Moreover, a separate, removable, self-affixing handle may be useful to help limit the spread of germs by allowing each child to have their own personal handle.

Abstract: The present invention provides an adjustable hand rail including a wall-mounted base member that includes a circular plate with an inward facing side and an outward facing side. The circular plate includes a circular track. The circular track has a bottom, an inside rail member extending from the bottom and an outside rail member extending from the bottom. The two rail members define a C-shaped channel. The bottom of the track member also includes a plurality of lock apertures. A rotatable insert is rotatably disposed within the circular track. The insert has a first insert opening and a diametrically opposed second insert opening. First and second shoulder members are disposed within the insert openings. The first shoulder member has a first locking pin biased to extend into one of the lock apertures. A bar having a first end and a second end is provided attached to the shoulder members.

Abstract: There is provided a synthetic resin member, having a screw formation portion and synthetic resin body. The screw formation portion has: a cylindrical metal portion having a first end and a second end, a female screw part being formed on the cylindrical portion; a release prevention portion formed at the first end; a flange portion formed at the second end, the flange portion having a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface; and a rotation prevention portion formed on the first surface. The synthetic resin body has: a body portion perpendicularly extending to have a third end and a fourth end, the body portion having a screw engagement portion perpendicularly penetrating the body portion. The cylindrical metal portion is inserted into the screw engagement portion. The release prevention portion is caulked with the third end of the body portion. The rotation prevention portion is engaged with the synthetic resin body at or near the fourth end of the body portion.

Abstract: A powered hammer includes a body in which is disposed a motor and a hammer mechanism driven by the motor when the motor is activated. A tool holder is coupled to a front portion of the body and which is capable of holding a cutting tool. The hammer mechanism, when driven by the motor, is capable of imparting impacts to a cutting tool, when held by the tool holder. A handle is moveably coupled to a rear portion of the body for movement toward and away from the body along a tool axis of the tool holder. The handle includes a grip portion and first and second end connection sections coupled to opposite end portions of the grip portion. The first and second end connection sections are slideably mounted on first and second arms that project rearward from the body. A movement control mechanism is mounted inside the handle and coupled to the first and second arms and the handle.

Abstract: A trailer includes a convertible handle having a handle portion, the handle portion pivotally attached to a tongue portion, the handle portion having a first gripping portion end and a second clevis end and an intermediate pivot, the handle portion being pivotably shiftable about the pivot between a first disposition presenting the gripping portion end proximate an end of the tongue portion and a second disposition presenting the clevis end proximate the end of the tongue portion. A method of operating a trailer is further included.

The accessory mounting mechanism generally comprises an upper grommet into which is inserted an end of the accessory, a lower grommet to which the upper grommet is secured, and a cap which covers both the upper and lower grommets. The lower grommet is provided with a retaining structure that engages a bore formed through the frame of the vehicle, so as to secure the accessory mounting mechanism thereto. The structure of the accessory mounting mechanism enables a simplified methodology for installing an accessory within a vehicle that involves the steps of pre-assembling the accessory mounting mechanism and then addressing the retaining structure of the accessory mounting mechanism to a bore formed through the frame of the vehicle so as to secure the accessory thereto.

Abstract: A garden cart handle having a main shank having a principal axis, a first end pivotably connectable to a garden cart and a second end opposite the first end. A handgrip portion is connected to the second end of the main shank, having a principal axis disposed substantially orthogonal to the principal axis of the main shank, a first end and a second end. A hinged portion, having an inboard end and an outboard end, is connected to the handgrip portion through a pivoting connection so as to allow the hinged portion to pivot about the principal axis of the handgrip portion. A flange is disposed on the outboard end of the hinged portion, shaped and sized to connect to a trailer tongue of a tractor. A latch is disposed on the second end of the main shank, shaped and sized to secure the hinged portion against pivoting.

The luggage attachment portion has an upper portion and a lower portion, with the upper portion having a sidewall and a top surface. The luggage attachment portion has a vertical channel which exits at least from the top surface. The grasping portion and the luggage attachment portion are rotatably connected by fastening means extending vertically through the respective channels.

Abstract: A scissor half of a hand-held pair of scissors comprises a blade portion and a handle portion having a handle lug. The inner circumference of the handle lug is provided with a handle insert which is made from another material than the handle portion. The handle insert is made of plastic material and is permanently and seamlessly injection molded to the handle lug. Thus, a handle insert is obtained that is fixed permanently to the handle lug and is secured against rotation therein.

The grip member is enabled to cope easily with a delicate change in the gripping condition by heating the grip proper (1) and the vicinity thereof to a temperature surpassing the glass transition point of the shape-memory resin thereby endowing the shape-memory rubber with a rubbery state, causing the forked part (3) to twine itself around the annular part (2) in such a manner as to impart the shape of a loop to the grip proper.

Abstract: A pair of finger rings used for mounting around finger holes in a rubber boot used with a water ski, a wake board and the like. The two finger rings include a first annular mounting plate and a second annular mounting plate. The two mounting plates are identical in structure. The first and second mounting plates include a first ring hole and a second ring hole. The first and second ring holes are dimensioned for indexing around the finger holes in the boot. The two mounting plates include a plurality of outwardly extending male posts and female posts. The male posts on the first mounting plate are dimensioned for receipt in the female posts of the second mounting plate. Likewise, the male posts of the second mounting plate are dimensioned for receipt in the female posts of the first mounting plate. During installation of the finger rings, the first mounting plate is positioned on one side of rubber boot with the first and second ring holes disposed next to and around the finger holes in the boot.

The shank has a collar connected thereto, and the collar has a clamping member movably engaged therewith. The resilient rope in the tapered passage is securely held by the teardrop member. The resilient rope extends through the collar and is engaged by the clamping member.
