Patent number: 6206076Abstract: A roof window having an upper edge and a lower edge is provided with a shade assembly that has a flexible shade having a pair of opposite ends, a rotatable shaft attached to one of the shade ends, and a mount rotatably supporting the shaft at the lower window edge. A motor and spring unit attached to the shaft and to the other of the shade ends can wind the shade around the shaft in an open position of the assembly and unwind the shade from the shaft and pull it up along the window until the other shade end is at the upper edge in a closed position of the assembly. A pair of guides extend generally parallel to each other between the window edges. The one shade end is displaceable along the guides and respective cables attached to the one shade end extend along the guides. The shade assembly further has a stiff bar extending along the one shade edge and rollers on ends of the bar riding in the guides and attached to the cables.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 1999Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Weinor Dieter Weiermann GmbH & Co.Inventor: Karl-Heinz Stawski

Patent number: 6186215Abstract: A rolling window screen assembly for use with a window assembly. The screen assembly is deployable in at least three positions. The first engagement position exists wherein the flexible screen may be extended over the entire window. The second engagement position exists wherein the flexible screen is releasably engaged to a sash to enable the flexible screen o be deployed dynamically according to the position of the sash. Finally, the flexible screen may be disengaged from the window assembly and retracted to expose substantially all of the window opening. A pull-cord apparatus having a pull-down non-elastic cord interfacing with an elastic take-up cord may be utilized for manipulating the flexible screen.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1999Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: Window Bright CorporationInventors: Daniel L. Patent number: 6152207Abstract: A tandem windbar system for a flexible curtain rollup door includes a first windbar adapted to be guided in opposed guide channels of a door assembly and supported by flexible strap members which are secured at one end to a rotatable drum for rolling a flexible curtain closure member onto and off of the drum to open and close the door. Opposite ends of the strap members are secured to stationary structure, such as the upper ends of opposed guide channels for the door curtain and the first windbar. A second windbar is supported below the first windbar by opposed flexible straps which are operably connected at one end to the first windbar by a bearing tube member which may rotate relative to and is supported on the first windbar. The straps of the second set are trained around and support the second windbar and are connected at their opposite ends to the curtain drum for rolling onto and off of the drum. The second windbar ascends and descends at 1.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1999Date of Patent: November 28, 2000Assignee: Overhead Door CorporationInventor: David A. Varley

Patent number: 6095231Abstract: A permanently mounted vehicle shade draws a blind across an aperture that is formed by the vehicle chassis, in order to shade the vehicle interior. To do this, a pair of hollow guide tracks are mounted on the chassis opposite the aperture from each other. For each guide track, a carriage is threaded onto a drive screw, and the drive screw is coaxially mounted for rotation within the hollow of the track. Each guide track also has a longitudinal slot, and each end of the rod is inserted into a respective slot and attached to a respective carriage. This positions the rod across the aperture. Next, a supply roller is permanently mounted on the vehicle chassis parallel to the rod. One end of the blind is attached to the rod, and the other end is attached to the supply roller. For operation, the drive screws are selectively rotated in unison. The rotation of the drive screws is converted into translational motion of the carriages, to move the attached rod and draw the blind across the aperture.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1999Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Inventor: Matthew Richard Hahn
