Abstract: A retrofitable retractable screen system for use with windows or doors. Instead of using a spring based tensioning arrangements to rewind the screen onto the roller assembly, the arrangement uses a pulley located on the spindle, around which is wrapped a cord. A guide assembly guides the cord around a tension adjustment arrangement that adjusts the tension in the cord as the screen is wound and unwound from the spindle to provide a smooth mechanism to extend and retract the screen. When the screen is extended, pushing the edge of the screen to force retraction of the screen is translated into a pulling action on the cord to unwind the cord off a pulley, which drives rotation of the spindle to wind the screen back on. Conversely, pulling the distal edge to extend the screen rotates the spindle and pulley to wind the cord back onto the pulley.

Abstract: A hidden insect screen system for tilt-to-clean, double hung windows whereby raising the bottom sash (104) causes resultant opening to fill with insect screen (115a) dispensed from an ordinary self-storing roller mechanism (114) mounted inside bottom rail (109) of said sash and whereby lowering the upper sash (105) causes resultant opening to fill with insect screen (115b) dispensed from an ordinary self-storing roller mechanism (122) mounted inside window head frame (103), all furnished such that vertical edges of the screens are protected from insect passage by contacting weatherstrip-like edge seals (127), and arranged such that insect protection is maintained with minimal interruption when each sash is tilted and its glazing is cleaned, the lower end of the upper screen being attached so as to be quickly repositioned from top to bottom of said upper sash.

Abstract: An apparatus for use with an overhead garage door includes an extensible screen that is provided in a screen assembly that is embedded within opening provided in a garage floor. A pair of horizontal and vertical recesses are provided on opposite sides of the opening to secure the screen assembly within the opening. The screen is wound on a spring-biased center roller disposed in a cylinder of the screen assembly. A top of the screen is secured to a strip. A pair of angled plates are disposed on opposite sides of the strip and are hingedly attached to the cylinder. When the garage door is lowered and extension of the screen is desired, a pair of pivot assemblies provided on the door bottom engage with the strip. As the door is raised, the strip and screen are extended from the screen assembly to cover an opening into the garage.

Abstract: A shared space divider provides privacy on surfaces. The shared space divider comprises a hub that is placed on a portion of a surface, and at least one partitioning structure coupled to a portion of the hub. The at least one partitioning structure comprises a separator configured to partition the surface into two or more sections. The separator has a ribbon structure, an accordion structure, or a fan structure. The at least one partitioning structure is configured to extend from and retract into or, alternatively, fold out from and fold into the hub. In some embodiments, the shared space divider comprises at least one container for holding items commonly found on the surface. In other embodiments, the shared space divider comprises a clip for attaching to documents. Yet, in other embodiments, images such as advertisements are displayed on at least one of the separator and the hub.

Abstract: A window assembly including a first sash and a second sash, the first and second sashes each including a pane of glass disposed between a pair of horizontal rails and a pair of vertical stiles, a frame configured to retain the first and second sashes along a vertical plane of the frame, and a mechanism configured to simultaneously and correspondingly move a second sash in second direction upon movement of a first sash in a first direction opposite the second direction.

Abstract: A window screen assembly for a window, which is disposed in a window frame. This assembly can include a housing coupled to a window frame, at least one screen disposed in the housing window frame, and at least one lock for selectively locking the screen to the window. In this case, the screen can be locked to the window, so that it moves with the window in the window frame. An end attachment element can also be coupled to the screen wherein this attachment element can be designed to either stand up in a window to allow attachment to the lock or catch on the window or to lay flat to allow for inactivity and detachment of the screen from the window.

Abstract: A frame assembly for at least partially enclosing a raised floor structure includes a bottom frame member positioned adjacent an associated raised floor structure. A pair of spaced apart side frame members are connected to and extend upwardly from the bottom frame member. A top frame member is spaced from the bottom frame member and connected to the pair of side frame members. At least one picket extends between and is connected to the top and bottom frame members. The at least one picket is oriented approximately parallel to the side frame members. A screen is selectively mounted to at least one of the top and bottom frame members and the side frame members. A roller member is received in bracket members at respective ends of a longitudinal cavity formed in one of a first pair of main frame members, whereas in each of second pair of main frame members extending at right angles to the first pair a longitudinal guide track is formed to receive respective ends of said rigid end member and optionally edge regions of the screening web. Abstract: A roll-up screen door appliance for drawing a screen panel horizontally across the span of a door frame, which advantageously may be stably positioned in a partly open position for permitting persons to pass through with a minimum opening, thereby reducing the opening size for entry of insects. The screen panel is rolled up on a spring-biassed, vertically-oriented supply roller and is withdrawn by a manually moved pull rod clamped to the distal end of the screen panel. The pull rod is frictionally held in a stable position across the span of the accompanying door frame as it is withdrawn and the friction is overcome manually as the screen is retracted upon the storage roller by a spring biassed mechanism.

Abstract: The invention herein pertains to a screen for use with a conventional multiple-hung window. In the one embodiment, the window screen can be concealed in the bottom lateral member of the sash frame and unwound as the sash is raised thus providing an automatic window screen. When the sash is closed a spring-loaded axle causes the screen to tightly rewind within the sash cavity.In the preferred form, an apron is provided below the window stool for housing a screen coil in which a free end is affixed to the bottom lateral member of the lower sash. A pivot bar attached to the lower sash allows the screen to evenly unroll even when the window sash yaws due to uneven pressure thereon or the like during opening and closing.

Abstract: The invention concerns a window and screen system provided at the end thereof that permits a screen to be moved into position upon the opening of the window. One end of the screen is attached to the end wall of the window sash thereby allowing effective sealing when the window is closed as well as the complete hiding of the screen. The screen itself is provided with an elongated seal along each of the marginal edges. As the window opens the screen is retracted from a holding area through a seal and guide channels cooperate with the elongated seal to provide a screen sealed about each of its marginal edges regardless of the degree to which the window is opened.

Abstract: A window screen is attached to a sliding sash and to the sill. Fixed to the screen are two or more vertical bands of coil spring material. Thus when the sash is closed the springs cause the screen to coil tightly. As the sash is raised, the screen is uncoiled so that it covers the opening but remains taut. The coil may be located at the middle of opening or at the top. A housing integral with the sash end of the screen or surrounding the spring coil protects the coil from weather and debris.
