Patent number: 5230738Abstract: A pliable, resilient retaining means integrated with an area to be masked in an architectural structure, extending over and substantially covering a channel about the perimeter of the area. The retaining means is attached to the channel wall proximate the area to be masked and is inwardly displaceable, allowing for the insertion and retention of non-adhesive paper or plastic masking material. The resilience of the retaining means urges it from its displaced position outward towards the channel wall distal the area to be masked where it frictionally engages the masking sheet between the end of the retaining means and the channel wall. Placement of the masking sheet is accomplished by stuffing the edges of the sheet into the channel by running a tool along the perimeter of the channel structure, displacing the retaining means inwardly both substantially parallel and at an angle to the channel walls.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1991Date of Patent: July 27, 1993Inventor: Robert A. Patent number: 4792179Abstract: This invention attaches a flexible truck bed cover to the truck, by means of a plastic strip sewn into the cover, fitting inside a gap at the top of the bed, created by a supporting frame or a bed liner. The stretch in the flexible cover allows the plastic strip into the gap on all four sides of the bed and the contracting of the fabric keeps it in there, plus while the vehicle is in motion, the downward motion of the slipstream increases the forces holding the strip into the gap. A zip out access panel facilitates a separate opening within the cover itself for one-handed opening and ease of access by means of a U shaped panel behind the cab of the truck. Being the full width of the bed and 25 inches down the bed, it gives 10 square feet of access.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1986Date of Patent: December 20, 1988Inventor: Michael C. Stevens

The pleater structure includes a backing member attached to a plurality of spaced apart stiffening members. The pleater structure is attached to at least the top portion of the drapery. Fasteners are provided on each stiffening member for attaching the drapery to sliding carriers in a track on a support channel. Each end of the drapery is secured to appropriate sliding carriers and have friction members engaging with the track to arrest free movement of the drapery relative to the track. The vertically hinged stiffening members provide pleats in the drapery when the ends of the drapery are moved closer together.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1979Date of Patent: October 28, 1980Inventor: George H. Patent number: 4197686Abstract: An easily-installed fabric wall covering system making it possible to support a fabric sheet against a wall. The system is constituted by a frame of extruded molding pieces or tracks that are attached to the wall along the perimeter of the wall surface to be covered. Each track includes a storage channel having a generally rectangular cross-section whose base is extended beyond the rear end of the channel to define a wall mounting flange. The face of the channel has an adhesive layer thereon to hold the margin of the fabric sheet while it is being mounted, the excess tail of the sheet which extends beyond the margin being stuffed by a tool into an inclined inlet at the front end of the channel. This inlet is defined by dilatable jaws that are pried open by the tool to admit the tail into the storage channel. When the tool is withdrawn, the tail is clamped by the jaws to securely anchor the sheet on the wall.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1978Date of Patent: April 15, 1980Inventor: Floyd M. Baslow

Patent number: 4161977Abstract: A frame assembly for mounting and displaying a sheet of decorative fabric. The assembly is constituted by a set of four mitered pieces joined together at their corners by reinforcing snap-in elements to form a frame whose dimensions fall somewhat short of the sheet dimensions to an extent equal to the margins of the fabric sheet. Each frame piece is formed by an extruded molding having resilient inlet jaws which lie adjacent to the junction of the outer edge and the back of the molding and communicates with an internal storage channel running the full length of the molding. Also running the full length of the molding on the front face thereof is a band of pressure-sensitive adhesive having a peel-off cover. Formed in the back is a longitudinally-extending keyway.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1977Date of Patent: July 24, 1979Inventor: Floyd Baslow

Patent number: 4098318Abstract: A curtain edge retainer for releasably securing a marginal edge portion of a pliant hanging curtain in position contiguous to a wall. The device includes an elongated flexible corner member, a latch member, an elongated rigid curtain stiffener, a clip member, and handle means. The corner member has a base strip attached in sealing engagement to the wall and a fastener strip attached to the base strip and projecting outwardly from the wall. The latch member is attached to the fastener strip and has a receiving portion facing away from the wall and a retaining portion adjacent the wall. The curtain stiffener is rolled within the marginal edge portion of the pliant hanging curtain with the curtain stiffener and the rolled marginal edge portion being adapted to be engaged with and disengage from the latch member. The clip member is attached to the curtain stiffener over the rolled marginal edge portion to hold the rolled marginal edge portion on the curtain stiffener.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1977Date of Patent: July 4, 1978Inventor: Ted W. Ruegsegger

Patent number: 4095838Abstract: A foldable extension to the top of the sides of an open truck or trailer body for increasing the volume of the truck body. The extension consists of a fabric material mounted along the top edge of a truck body side and fitted with a plurality of hinged supports which can be extended in to serve as vertical supports to the fabric.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 1976Date of Patent: June 20, 1978Assignee: The Raymond Lee Organization, Inc.Inventor: Arnold A. Patent number: 4055211Abstract: A sectional and adjustable bracket for hanging drapery and other wall covering fabrics has an elongated holding bar that holds removable hanger units. The hanger units are shaped to form fabric pleats and include rearwardly extending shoulders. The holding bar is formed with stabilizing slots sized to receive the shoulders and prevent them from wobbling and moving laterally. The top edge of the holding bar has prongs and the top edges of the hanger units have spikes to pierce the fabric margin and support the fabric in place.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1976Date of Patent: October 25, 1977Inventor: Phillip Sperling

Patent number: 4053008Abstract: An assembly of border pieces attachable to a wall to form a framework for mounting a fabric sheet which completely covers the wall without being adhered thereto. The assembly is constituted by linear border pieces whose ends abut right angle border pieces to define a framework that follows the perimeter of the wall and of any openings therein. Each piece includes a storage channel that runs along the outer edge of the piece and has a narrow inlet on the face of the piece, and a keyway extending along the piece in parallel relation to the channel, the keyway also having a narrow inlet on the face of the piece. In securing the selvage of the fabric sheet to a border piece, the selvage is placed over the face and a zone thereon is trapped within the keyway by means of a compressible spline which overlies the selvage zone and is forced into the keyway through its inlet, the remaining tail of the selvage being stuffed into the storage channel whereby the exposed selvage presents a smooth appearance.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1976Date of Patent: October 11, 1977Inventor: Floyd M. Baslow

Patent number: H339Abstract: A snap slit door having at least one panel and a flat closure means used to reate tension in the door panel or panels, such tension acting as the closure force generated by the closure means for the door panel or panels. The flat closure means may be adjustable such that the tension and resulting resistance to opening is variable. Said door panel or panels may be of any pliable material to enable use of the panel or panels without hinges, and further to render the flat closure means operational. The panel or panels may be held in the closed position by any means which will self-release upon the exertion of a requisite pressure differential between the inside and outside of the panel or panels, effectively relieving the pressure differential. One such effective self-releasing closure means is a hook and pile patch arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1986Date of Patent: October 6, 1987Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the ArmyInventors: Robert D.
