Patent number: 6009930Abstract: A portable wall partition having a three point pivoting 360.degree. articulate pinch less hinge connecting two panels which may pivot 360.degree. with respect to each other. The hinge has two opposing couplers, each having a toothed semicircular portion meshed with the opposing coupler toothed semicircular portion. Each coupler is adapted to be connected to one of the panels to be pivoted with respect to each other. A pin is in each coupler extending along an axis of the semicircular portion thereof. A link connects each pin to maintain the meshed engagement of the couplers through 360.degree. of coupler pivotal rotation with respect to each other. The link has a sufficient width substantially that of the width of the coupler body as to block and prevent the meshed semicircular portions from pinching an individual's finger or object. The portable wall partition has two full panel end members which provide support, rigidity, privacy, and noise reduction.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1999Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Versare Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Robert J. Patent number: 5584330Abstract: Partitions formed of edgewise connected panels have not historically had the capability of following vertical curves as required by naturally rolling terrain. My self-supporting edgewise connected partition formed of substantially triangular shaped panels (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24) has the capability to simultaneously follow a straight or curved vertical alignment and a straight or curved horizontal alignment in any combination. Both the flexibility of the partition and its ability to support itself result from it being formed of a plurality of two differently shaped panels (10 and 12). The panels are shaped in such a way that, when their abutting edges are joined, the lower edges cross back and forth across the alignment (be it straight or curved) defined by upper edges.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Inventor: Peter J. Patent number: 5349967Abstract: A protective device having two transparent, spaced-apart shields held at an angle to one another. The device is symmetric so that either shield can serve as a base for the other and either can serve as a shield. When one of the shields is horizontal, the other shield is positioned at a suitable angle with respect to the practitioner's face to shield against contact with the patient's body fluids during medical procedures. The shields are held in cantilevered relation by a single support so that access to the space therebetween is maximized and so that the device can be oriented as dictated by the handedness of the user. The device is preferably formed from a single sheet of clear plastic folded twice to form the angled shields on either side of the support. The device may be used with minor surgical procedures and any medical procedure that involves venipuncture or arterial puncture.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1993Date of Patent: September 27, 1994Inventors: John M. Patent number: 4124136Abstract: Structural front and rear frames, and a rear bulkhead mounted on the rear frame, mount and securely retain a flexible bag as a liner within a freight container, truck trailer or the like, to adapt the container for bulk cargo transport. The front frame retains the front end of the liner bag in generally rectangular configuration and transmits stresses on the bag to structural members of the container, thus supporting the front end of the bag against displacement and possible damage or rupture. The rear frame and a curved bulkhead mounted thereon support the rear end of the bag and similarly prevent its rupture or collapse during loading and tilt-unloading. The laterally curved rear bulkhead also acts as a funnel to completely evacuate the bag contents during tilt-unloading through an opening therethrough. The arrangement is inexpensive and easy to install and, although all of its components may be disposed of after a single use, at least the frame components can be reused.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1975Date of Patent: November 7, 1978Assignee: United States Lines, Inc.Inventors: Ronald W. Patent number: 4027715Abstract: A flexible door comprising a tough, nonelastic flexible sheet and a plurality of straight, plate-like unit blocks, each having a rectangular section and each being adhered to the sheet, the blocks being arranged side-by-side in contact with each other. The door is fixed to a post at one end and has a handle at the other end. When one side of the door formed by the unit blocks is pressed on, the side surfaces of adjacent unit blocks intimately contact each other, permitting the nonelastic sheet to keep the door planar in a closed position. When the handle on the other side, namely, on the sheet side, is pulled, the door flexes to an open position within a narrow space. The door can be installed in the same manner as a swing door without the necessity of providing a special guide and fixture on the lintel, floor, sill, etc.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 1975Date of Patent: June 7, 1977Assignee: Tohma Kohan Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Tsuyoshi Tohma
