Rotating Digester Patents (Class 162/244)
  • Patent number: 8980060
Abstract: A biomass hydrothermal decomposition apparatus includes, a biomass feeder (31) that feeds biomass material (11) under normal pressure to under increased pressure, a hydrothermal decomposition device (42A) that allows the fed biomass material (11) to be gradually moved inside a device main body (42A) from either end thereof in a consolidated condition, and also allows hot compressed water (15) to be fed from an other end of a feed section for the biomass material into the main body (42A), so as to cause the biomass material (11) and the hot compressed water (15) to countercurrently contact with each other and undergo hydrothermal decomposition, and that elutes a lignin component and a hemicellulose component into the hot compressed water, so as to separate the lignin component and the hemicellulose component from the biomass material (11); and a biomass discharger (51) that discharges, from the side where the hot compressed water is fed into the device main body, a biomass solid residue (17) under increased pr

  • Publication number: 20110162813
Abstract: A pulping apparatus includes a hollow mixing cylinder selected to retain a volume of pulping fluid and cellulose fibres therein. The mixing cylinder is journaled for rotation about a central axis oriented at approximately +20° from horizontal. In a preferred construction, the mixing cylinder is divided internally into at least two discrete mixing chambers configured to facilitate outward flow of defibred pulp from an infeed end of the cylinder to and outwardly from the outlet end. The mixing chamber adjacent the inlet end is delineated by an end cover which closes the inlet end, and by a first divider positioned across the cylinder interior. The next adjacent mixing chamber is delineated longitudinally by the distal-most divider of the end mixing chamber, and by a second further downstream divider spaced longitudinally therefrom. The dividers include at least one through-opening therethrough.

  • Patent number: 7846298
Abstract: An outlet device and motor assembly for a pressured vessel is disclosed, where the assembly includes: a generally vertical drive shaft extending below and through the vessel and coupled to a rotating mechanism within the vessel; a stationary outlet housing supporting the drive shaft; a thrust bearing mounted on the outlet housing and around the drive shaft to rotationally engage the drive shaft; a hydraulic drive coupled to rotationally drive the drive shaft, and a radial bearing mounted around the drive shaft to rotationally engage the drive shaft and said radial bearing is at or below the hydraulic drive.

  • Patent number: 5087326
Abstract: An apparatus for bleaching pulp particles comprising an inner tubular shaped shell member with lifter blades mounted on its internal wall surface. The shell member is rotatably mounted within an outer shell member with seals between the shell members providing an isolated space. This space is pressurized with a gas to prevent pulp particles and gases from escaping from the inner shell member by way of the seals.
