  • Patent number: 11136718
Abstract: Disclosed is a through-air dryer shower assembly disposed within the through-air dryer and enables efficient cleaning of the through-air dryer without having an operator enter the dryer. The shower may comprise an elongated shower conduit having a plurality of nozzles disposed thereon and may be affixed to a baffle disposed within the through-air dryer cylinder. The shower assembly is generally positioned to spray a pressurized stream of wash fluid against the interior surface of the dryer causing debris accumulated within the deck to flow through the structure to the outer surface for discharge.

  • Patent number: 10265886
Abstract: Provided herein is a molding material that attains little fluctuation in amount of short fibers and powdery resin among individual products and that allows continuous production without damaging a die. In the step of pouring, slurry is poured onto a slurry diffusion member 7 from above the slurry diffusion member 7. The slurry diffusion member 7 extends in an upward direction, and is shaped such that the area of a transverse section taken along a direction orthogonal to the upward direction becomes smaller as the slurry diffusion member 7 extends in the upward direction. In the step of cleaning, a dispersion medium that is the same as the dispersion medium used in the step of pouring or water is poured onto the slurry diffusion member 7 from above the slurry diffusion member 7 to cause the short fibers and the powdery resin adhering to a slurry diffusion portion 71 of the slurry diffusion member 7 to fall down.

  • Patent number: 9962887
Abstract: There is little fluctuation in amount of short fibers among individual products of fiber substrate. No damage is caused to a mold for the fiber substrate. Continuous production of the fiber substrates is possible. A method of manufacturing a fiber substrate includes the steps of: preparing slurry by dispersing short fibers in a dispersion medium; pouring the slurry into a cylindrical mold from above the cylindrical mold, the slurry being directed to a slurry diffusion member disposed in the center of the cylindrical mold and having an upward pointing conical or pyramidal shape; pouring the dispersion medium or water onto the slurry diffusion member from above the slurry diffusion member to cause the short fibers adhering to the slurry diffusion member to fall down, after the step of pouring the slurry; and discharging the dispersion medium from the cylindrical mold to accumulate the short fibers in the cylindrical mold to obtain a fiber aggregate.

  • Patent number: 5851358
Abstract: The invention is directed to a paper making machine having a wet end associated with a wet fiber web. A forming fabric has a plurality of voids therein and carries liquid from the fiber web. A roll disposed at the wet end of the paper making machine carries the forming fabric. The roll and the forming fabric define a diverging area therebetween which causes liquid in the forming fabric to exit the voids. A doctor back includes a doctor element associated with the roll. A shower provides a liquid output which is directed relative to and lubricates the doctor element. A suction chamber has an at least partially open top and an outlet. The open top is positioned relative to each of the doctor blade and the diverging area to collect liquid from the shower and liquid exiting the voids in the forming fabric in the diverging area. • Patent number: 5597449
Abstract: A method and device for conditioning a ceramic or metal-ceramic coating of a paper machine roll at its operating site. The roll is ground periodically by a grinding member mounted on a doctor of the roll. The grain size of the grinding particles in the grinding member, i.e., the average diameter of the particles, is in the range of from about 15 to about 200 .mu.m. In the grinding situation, the roll is rotated in its site of operation, and the grinding member is pressed with a force into contact with the face to be ground, whereby, if the face to be ground is excessively rough, it is smoothed to the desired value of surface roughness and, in a corresponding manner, an excessively smooth face is roughened to the desired surface roughness value determined by the grinding member.

  • Patent number: 5092961
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for cleaning a porous cover of a press roll of a papermaking machine. The apparatus includes a hydrostatic bearing disposed adjacent to the porous cover, the bearing defining a concave surface for cooperating with porous cover. The bearing defines a fluid conveying passageway having a first and a second end. The first end of the passageway is connected to a source of pressurized fluid and the second end is in fluid communication with the concave surface such that in use of the apparatus, when the porous cover of the press roll rotates, the fluid passes through the passageway and along the concave surface and between the concave surface and the porous cover. The pressurized fluid flow inwardly through the porous cover for flushing contaminants lodged within the porous cover outwardly away from the porous cover thereby inhibiting the buildup of comtaminants on the external surface of the porous cover that would otherwise impair the water absorbing capabilities of the cover.

Abstract: The invention relates to shower fittings especially those used in the paper and board making industries. The shower fitting incorporates at least one jet for directing on to a surface a jet of liquid which is suitable for cleaning and/or reconditioning the surface. The jet or jets are normally mounted in a tube to which the liquid is supplied and which is reciprocated across the surface to ensure that the entire width of the surface is treated and to avoid damage to the surface that might result if a jet of liquid is directed constantly at the same area of the surface. The invention is concerned with the problem of ensuring adequate support and protection for the tube. In one particular embodiment, the tube 1 is mounted for reciprocation inside a support tube 3. Support bushes 2 spaced along the axial length of the tube 1 ensure adequate support while protection is provided by the outer tube 3.

Abstract: A continuous machine for the manufacture of fiber-containing materials such as paper, which comprises a rotating cylinder partly immersed in a body of liquid containing fibers in suspension. The surface of the cylinder comprises permeable and impermeable areas arranged in a predetermined pattern, and fibers are drawn onto the permeable areas by suction from within the cylinder, the layers of fibers formed on these areas being transferred to a conveyor belt which contacts the cylinder surface at a zone out of contact with the liquid. The surface of the cylinder is washed upstream of the transfer zone to remove fibers and other particles which may adhere to the impermeable areas of the cylinder surface by feeding cleansing liquid, such as pure water, across an overflow edge into a space adjacent the cylinder so that the cleansing liquid flows parallel to the impermeable areas.
