  • Publication number: 20080202713
Abstract: A refiner steam separation system according to the present invention includes a blowline for transporting a mixture of fiber material from a refiner to an inlet of a steam separator. Waste steam is discharged from the separator through a waste steam outlet. Cleaned fiber material is discharged from the separator through an exit, which prevents a substantial portion of the waste steam from passing through the exit. A relay pipe communicates with the exit and a dryer duct, and transports cleaned fiber material therebetween. A resin input communicates with the relay pipe, and supplies resin therein. The resin is mixed with the cleaned fiber material prior to the cleaned fiber material being dried in the dryer duct. The present invention is also directed to a method of reducing VOC emissions generated during refining cellulosic fibrous material.

  • Patent number: 6139685
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for treating a pulp suspension in which the suspension is rotated in a rotationally symmetrical, rapidly rotating and permeable screen basket so that the suspension is subjected to the influence of a centrifugal force and dewatered at the same time as the suspension is conveyed by a rotating screw along the inner wall of the screen basket. The invention is characterized in that the suspension is caused to rotate by means which are arranged at the entrance to the screen basket, and in that the outer edges of the said screw bear against or are immediately adjacent to the screen basket and rotate at a higher speed than does the screen basket so that the screw scrapes the inner wall of the screen basket.

  • Patent number: 6029825
Abstract: A sieve for sorting fiber suspensions, symmetrical in relation to an axis, with an inflow side for the fiber suspension to be sorted and an opposite outflow side. This sieve is useful for pressure sorting machines having a rotor that may be rotated around the axis of the sieve and that is provided with profiled elements around the inflow side of the sieve in order to generate positive and negative pressure pulses in the fiber suspension that is to be sorted. The inflow side of the sieve has grooves approximately parallel to the axis of the sieve that follow each other in the circumferential direction of the sieve. A through-channel opens into each groove. The grooves are delimited by a front and a rear side wall, seen in the direction of rotation of the profiled elements.

  • Patent number: 5932067
Abstract: The invention is directed towards the method of processing of fibrous mass by a chemical agent and the set up needed for the conducting of the process. Fibrous mass is mixed with a gas transfer agent in the mixing cell and goes to the flow-type tube cell which is shaped like a spiral with the 1:18-1:60 ratio between tube and loop diameters. The chemical agent is transferred immediately to the reactor throughout the jets attached to the reactor lengthwise. The process is carried out in a turbulent regime of motion of the reaction mixture with the velocity of 1-50 m/s. The current invention allows to reach the higher effective processing of fibrous mass, to reduce the consumption of the chemical agent and to increase the quality of the processed material. It can be utilized in paper and pulp industry for the processing of cellulose using a bleaching agent.

  • Patent number: 5601690
Abstract: A method for screening fibrous stock slurry having a rotor impeller and a screen, in which accepts quality and throughput may be adjusted without stopping the screening process by relative displacement of the clearance between the rotor and the screen plate. In one version, this relative displacement is accomplished by axial displacement of frusto-conical portions of the bladed rotor and screen. The relative axial displacement changes the degree of pulp disturbance in a primary screening zone, thus causing throughput and accepts quality to change accordingly. The primary screening zone may be between the rotor impeller and the screen, or it may be on the other side of the screen, in which case the blades on the screen are designed to permit a portion of the pulp slurry to flow through the screen into a region between the rotor impeller and the screen.

Abstract: A screen dram for the dewatering and/or washing of cellulose pulp, comprises a first cylinder (2) made from non-stainless material, which is rotatable about its axis (5); a cylindrical screen plate (6) arranged coaxially on the outside of the first cylinder, but at a distance from it, and between the screen plate and the first cylinder an annular chamber (7) which can receive liquid which has passed through the screen plate, which chamber contains passages (26) which extend in the axial direction towards one or both ends of the drum for the withdrawal of the screen liquid. The chamber (7) is lined with stainless steel (8) in the form of one or more cylindrical plate sections (8a, 8b . . . 8n). These, by virtue of shrink joints, can be joined to and bear in seal-tight arrangement against the cylindrical casing of the first cylinder. • Patent number: 5213686
Abstract: Compressible material is compacted into a plug by a device including a housing, solid outer wall, and restricting adjustable portion at an outlet. A root wall is rotated about an axis and conveys the material to be compressed in a channel having solid sidewalls. Without significant extraction of liquid from the material, the material is compressed until discharged in a compacted plug form from the housing outlet. A pneumatic cylinder provides an adjustable force for effecting the compaction adjacent the housing outlet. Examples of compressible materials that may be acted upon in the practice of various industrial processes include wood chips, high consistency paper pulp (cellulose pulp), wax and fibrous waste (for making artificial fireplace logs), and mud and straw (for producing building blocks or bricks).

Date June 28, 1979A bulk material is treated in a drum rotating in a bulk of the bulk material to be treated. The drum (16, 68) is provided with feeding-in openings (28, 70) in the cylindrical face of the drum. The bulk material tumbles around in the drum and is conveyed towards a discharge part in one end of the drum by means of a worm conveyor in the drum rotating in opposite direction to the drum. A treatment fluid is introduced into the drum through apertures (11a, 85) in the shaft of the worm conveyor. After the fluid has treated the bulk material in the drum it is led away through the same openings (28, 70) as those through which the bulk material is continuously being fed into the drum. Further the fluid advances up into the bulk of bulk material which therethrough also is treated before the material is fed into the drum.
