Abstract: A one-piece core-making technique used in producing railway truck bolsters and side frames, which includes the following steps: 1. After scraping the top of a core box, applying a shaped top mould (11), which is precisely located, from top to bottom. 2. Press or slightly hit the top mould (11) to make sure the top mould covers/caps the scraping surface. 3. Keep pressing to make sure that the flat scraping surface was pressed to a required curved shape, like the shape of the top mould (11). 4. Last, it will become a one-piece core with a partially integrated inner cavity section. The one-piece core made by this technique has a smooth surface. This technique also can improve the internal quality of the product and ease work intensity.
Abstract: A molding machine for producing a mold by applying external force of either pressurized air or mechanical compaction or both to molding sand (12) that is held in a mold space is disclosed. The mold space is defined by a master plate (9), which has a pattern (8), and a flask (7). The molding machine includes a lifter table (11) for vertically carrying the master plate (9) and the flask (7), a filling frame (4) disposed for vertical movement above the lifter table (10), and a reinforcing frame (5) disposed for vertical movement between the filling frame (4) and the lifter table (10). The reinforcing frame (5) and the flask (7) are adapted to approach each other such that the reinforcing frame (5) contacts the outer surface of the flask (7) to reinforce it.
Abstract: A mold forming machine for the production of casting molds wherein molding sand is compressed within mold flasks is provided with stabilizing means for counteracting the effects of the compressive forces generated within the mold flask during compression of the molding sand tending to cause distortion of the flask. The stabilizing means include a movable frame which is adapted to extend about a molding flask placed in the machine with the frame being positioned relative to the flask by lifting gears which move the frame in accordance with the various stages of operation of the machine. A plurality of fluid pressure actuated tensioning elements are mounted on the frame to be movable therewith. The tensioning elements are adapted to apply compressive forces inwardly of the mold flasks during application of the molding sand compressing forces.
Abstract: A method of producing a reduced-pressure-shaped mould in which at least in the region of a sprue runner of the mould to be formed and in regions where a shield material for the mould material is likely to be destroyed during introduction of the molten material to be moulded, the mould material partially or entirely comprises moulding sand mixed with substantially 0.5% to substantially 3.0% by weight of binder.
Abstract: Moulding flask adapted to be used in a process for forming a mould comprising steps of disposing, at the opening of the moulding flask, a pattern having a shield membrane of synthetic resin on the outer surface thereof, filling the space defined between the moulding flask and the pattern with particulate filler material such as sand, and applying negative pressure to the filler material so that the filler material is subjected to an external pressure to make a mould, said moulding flask having at least one surface on an intermediate partition surface formed by an impervious resilient membrane which is supported by a support member whereby, when the filler material is subjected to the negative pressure, the external pressure is applied to the resilient membrance which then presses the filler material so as to enhance compacting of the mould thus producing a strong and precise casting mould.
