  • Patent number: 11035196
Abstract: The invention relates to a hydraulic device for in situ hermetic sealing of holes, cracks or leaks from joints that occur in underground production tubing used for the extraction of oil, gas or other fluids. In particular, the invention relates to a device comprising an assembly including four sections comprising various securing and anchoring means, and to the method for moving the device in order to detect and locate the site of the leak and to position the device inside the fluid production tubing, such that it remains fixed in place and hermetically seals the damaged section of the production tubing, allowing normal production flow to be resumed.

  • Patent number: 10597971
Abstract: A hydraulically actuated Jack And Pull (JAP) tubular expansion tool string comprises: an annular non-return valve arranged in the wall of the JAP string, which allows mud to flow from a surrounding annulus into the bore of the expansion tool string when the pressure in the bore of the tool string is lower than that in the annulus; a second non-return valve arranged in the JAP string below the annular valve which allows fluid to move down only; wherein during the cycling of the jack the annular non-return valve is continuously open and the second non-return valve cycles with the jack movement to inhibit curing of cement in the expansion tool string.

  • Patent number: 10494887
Abstract: An apparatus for remediating water wells comprises a plurality of retractable cutting blades suitable for cutting openings in a well casing. The retractable cutting blades and corresponding drive mechanism are organized to be lowered through a well casing. At certain depths, the retractable blades are extended to cut openings in the well casing. The apparatus also includes inflatable retention elements both above and below the retractable blades to create a fluid seal within the well casing. A solidifying, waterproof slurry is injected to flow through the openings via a slurry delivery mechanism, and thereby create a waterproof barrier outside the well casing at the level of a waterproof confining soil layer.

  • Patent number: 9879505
Abstract: A one trip method of cleaning a portion of the borehole and then setting a tool such as a packer or a bridge plug locates the cleanup tools above the plug with a ported sub to allow circulation of loosened debris. The debris is directed uphole from above the plug and does not have to pass around the sealing element of the plug or through bypass ports in the plug body. The plug is then positioned in the cleaned portion and set. The cleaning tools are released from the set plug and brought to the surface. These tools could be used to clean the portion of the borehole where the tool is set or clean the entire section above the tool on the trip out of the borehole. Cleaning tools can be filter, scrapers both fixed and movable, magnets, brushes and associated tools that centralize the assembly for more effective operation.

  • Patent number: 9644451
Abstract: A downhole valve for fluid energized packers includes a valve sub and a packer. The valve sub further includes a control tube and a rotatable ball, the control tube having at least one closable aperture fluidly coupled to the packer when open, and the rotatable ball rotatable about an axle having at least one flow path closable by a rotation of the ball. The rotatable ball rotates about an axle coupled to a shift sleeve coupled to the lower end of the control tube. The rotatable ball includes a rotation pin extending from its outer surface and a rotation pin sleeve is adapted to rotate the ball in response to a movement of the ball toward or away from the rotation pin sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9458695
Abstract: A downhole pressure compensating device includes a housing with a chamber and an internal hollow section, a first piston dividing the chamber into a first section and a second section, the first section being in fluid communication with a first fluid port, the second section being in fluid communication with a borehole through a second fluid port, and a first spring disposed within the second section to exert a pressure on the first piston to enable the conservation of an overpressure in the first section. Furthermore, the device includes second piston, a second spring disposed between the first piston and the second piston, and an overpressure channel arranged in the first or the second piston, which overpressure channel, when the second spring is in a compressed condition, provides fluid communication between said first and second sections.

  • Patent number: 6719046
Abstract: A apparatus is disclosed for attaching and sealing to the upper end of the casing allowing the inner string to be run through the apparatus. The apparatus provides a latch for anchoring the inner string and a seal for sealing on the inner string. Also disclosed is a flow path for providing for circulation of fluid between the inner string and casing annulus. Also disclosed is an inner string sub that provides a profile anchoring and sealing the inner string by the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5507343
Abstract: A method and apparatus for repairing or isolating holes, ruptures, splits or old perforations in marginal oil and gas wells from producing perforations. The apparatus includes two packer assemblies, a tube assembly and a slip assembly. The packer assemblies further include expandable packer elements and a vent cone mounted on a mandrel. The mandrels of the packer assemblies are connected to opposite ends of the tube assembly. The slip assembly is housed on the mandrel of one packer assembly and is used to create a positive mechanical set of the repair apparatus when positioned over the damaged area. Once the packer apparatus is positioned and the packer elements expanded, gas from producing formations flow to the wellhead through the tube assembly without interfering with the operation of down-hole pumps. The length of the gas vent packer apparatus can be varied between the packer elements depending upon the depth of damaged casing requiring repair or isolation.

  • Patent number: 4685523
Abstract: Downhole apparatus for converting conventional petroleum wells to gas lift or chemical injection operation by perforating the well tubing at the desired depth and thereafter installing a packoff anchor within the well tubing, without disturbing the setting thereof, to bridge the perforation, the packoff anchor having an elongate tubular body with a lateral flow port in its wall, seals above and below the flow port for sealing with the well tubing above and below the perforation, and a receptacle for receiving a flow control device, such as a gas lift valve or injection valve for controlling flow through the lateral port. Fluids, such as lift gas or treating fluids injected into the annulus at the surface enter the flow stream inside the well tubing through the perforation and lateral flow port but under control of the flow control device. Preferably this elongate tubular body is a side pocket mandrel, and that preferably of the orienting type.

  • Patent number: 4606408
Abstract: A system is provided for gravel-packing a zone of a well. An operating string of the system includes a liner hanger setting tool. A liner string is concentrically disposed about the operating string and has its upper end detachably connected to a lower end of the liner hanger setting tool. The liner hanger setting tool includes a rotatable ball valve disposed in a housing bore thereof. The liner string and operating string are lowered together on an outer drill pipe string into the well until a liner hanger of the liner string is located at a desired location. Then the liner hanger is set within the well at a desired location in response to an increase in pressure within the outer tubing string. Then the ball valve of the liner hanger setting tool is opened in response to an increase in pressure within a well annulus.
