  • Patent number: 9708884
Abstract: An embodiment of an isolation member cooperates with an isolation member seat to isolate a well first portion of an earthen well drilled into the earth's crust from a well second portion and comprises an interior chamber to receive an explosive charge. The explosive charge may be surrounded by a filler material that is resistant to deformation. A pressure sensor, a circuit, and a battery are also received into the chamber. The isolation member material may comprise one of zirconium oxide, aluminum oxide, bulk metallic glass, silicon nitride or tungsten carbide, and the isolation member is resistant to deformation within the isolation member seat under the application of a substantial pressure differential across the isolation member and isolation member seat. Detonation of the explosive charge fragments the isolation member to prevent the isolation member from presenting an obstruction to subsequent well operations. A safety fuse may be included to enable safe handling and transport.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a hydraulic communication device that is used in a wellbore for fluid communication during a wellbore operation. In one aspect, a hydraulic communication device is provided. The hydraulic communication device includes a body having a central passageway and a bore formed in a wall of the body. The bore is in fluid communication with the central passageway, and the bore is configured to receive an end of a control line. The hydraulic communication device further includes a plug assembly disposed in the bore formed in the wall of the body. The plug assembly is movable from a first position in which fluid communication through the bore is blocked and a second position in which fluid communication through the bore is unblocked.

Abstract: The disclosed hydrocarbon lift system and method prohibits water-coning in production of oil from a subterranean reservoir to the earth's surface. The system comprises a well bore with a first and a second section. The first section has perforations which draw a first fluid into and up the well bore based on a negative pump pressure applied thereto. The second section has perforations which draw a second fluid into the well bore based on a differential pressure between the pump pressure and a lower induced pressure therein. The system also comprises a venturi structure fixtured into the well bore. The venturi structure has flaring ends connected by a constricting throat defining perforations therein. The constricting throat perforations draw the second fluid through the second section perforations into the venturi throat in response to the lower induced pressure in the second section created by an increased first fluid velocity there through.

Abstract: A rubber bullet-shaped cylindrical device that functions to non-invasively plug a gushing pipe of high pressure oil. The steel belted inflatable rubber plugging device with attached high pressure hoses is inserted into a gushing oil well pipe while it pumps shipboard a high pressure stream of recycled oil itself that will not freeze at the gushing oil well to fight or knife through the oil and the pressure of the oil gushing to assist with inserting and descending the apparatus into the pipe while the operator follows a sequence of operational steps. A hose that has a vacuum applied to reduce the size of the inflatable bladder to allow it to fit it into the pipe unrestricted until it stops at the right location then recycled oil that will not freeze is pumped into the bladder to seal the oil well and to allow the cement pouring operation.
