Publication number: 20100314097Abstract: A casing annulus is remediated by inserting a hose into a casing annulus, the hose having a nozzle on its lower end. An acoustic signal is directed into the annulus. A sensor in the hose receives the acoustic signal and transmits data from the sensor to the surface. The data represents the acoustic signal arrival time to the sensor, and an analyzer estimates the sensor depth based on the data. The hose is inserted from a reel into a wellhead above the annulus. An electrical transducer mechanically coupled to the hose creates the acoustic signal. The signal is propagated along the hose and transferred to the fluid in the annulus, where it then propagates further into the annulus. The transducer can be installed on a hose roller along which the hose is fed into the wellhead.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2010Publication date: December 16, 2010Applicant: VETCO GRAY INC.Inventor: Charles E. Publication number: 20100106422Abstract: A fluids lifting tool and analysis system. The present invention comprises a fluid lifting system for a gas well. The system comprises a lifting tool positioned in the well and a docking station at the well surface. The tool includes a processor, pressure sensors, temperature sensors, an accelerometer, and a proximity sensor. A battery in the tool is adapted to be charged by inductive coupling using coils in the docking station and the tool. The tool is released from the docking station and descends the well. During descent the tool measures elapsed time, velocity of the tool, calculates distance traveled, measures pressure and temperature, determines volumes or oil and water in the well, and senses when the tool reaches the bottom of the well. The FLT chooses to ascend the well when appropriate and transfers measured and calculated data to the docking station.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2009Publication date: April 29, 2010Inventors: Paul Byrne, Phillip P. Harris

Publication number: 20100078179Abstract: Submersible pump power cable is inserted into a length of tubing. The device comprises an anchoring system attachable to the cable affixed to the tubing inner surface. The anchoring system includes an anchoring sleeve slideable over the cable and insertable into the tubing. Coiling the tubing with the cable and anchoring system inside energizes the sleeve into an anchoring configuration to anchor the cable within the tubing. The anchoring system continues to anchor the cable after uncoiling the tubing and inserting it into a wellbore.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2008Publication date: April 1, 2010Applicant: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventor: John J. Publication number: 20100078161Abstract: A method for controlling the electrical power delivered to a downhole system. The downhole system may include a power supply, a downhole tool, and a wire or cable connecting the downhole tool to the power supply. A resistive load, such as a motor, is included with the downhole tool. The power supplied to the downhole tool is dynamically adjustable to match the resistive load voltage and power rating. Dynamically adjusting power is accomplished by varying voltage from the power supply, varying the resistive load requirements, or a combination of both.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2009Publication date: April 1, 2010Applicant: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: Sven Krueger, Otto N. Fanini, Matthias Reinhard Moeller, Karsten Fuhst
