Publication number: 20130192849Abstract: An apparatus for releasing gas pressure from a drill string includes a tubular housing having a circumferential sidewall, an axis, a first end, a second end and a central passage extending between the first end and the second end. A pressure member is positioned in the central passage along the axis of the housing. The pressure member is movable from a first position retracted within the housing to a second position extending past the second end of the housing. An actuator is provided to move the pressure member from the first position to the second position, where the pressure member exerts a force to move a valve member of a float valve to an open position, thereby allowing gas trapped in the drill string to flow through the central passage.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2012Publication date: August 1, 2013Inventor: Adam Paul Blake

Publication number: 20130186638Abstract: A method for pumping production fluid from a wellbore includes deploying a downhole assembly of an artificial lift system (ALS) into the wellbore. The downhole assembly includes a linear electric motor (LEM) and a pump. The method further includes operating the LEM, thereby reciprocating the pump and lifting production fluid from the wellbore to surface. The LEM includes a stator and a reciprocating head having permanent magnets. The production fluid leaks through an interface formed between the head and the stator.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2013Publication date: July 25, 2013Applicant: Oilfield Equipment Development Center LimitedInventor: Oilfield Equipment Development Center Limited

Publication number: 20130168078Abstract: A release assembly (200) for releasing a portion of a tool string in a wellbore. The release assembly (200) includes an outer housing (202) having a fishing receptacle (206) disposed therein. The fishing receptacle (206) includes a fishing neck (208). A support assembly (214) is disposed within the housing (202). The support assembly (214) has a first position wherein the support assembly (214) engages the fishing neck (208) to prevent separation of the fishing receptacle (206) from the housing (202) and a second position wherein the support assembly (214) is disengaged from the fishing neck (208) no longer preventing separation of the fishing receptacle (206) from the housing (202). An actuator (224), disposed within the housing (202), maintains the support assembly (214) in the first position until actuation thereof allows the support assembly (214) to shift to the second position.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 5, 2012Publication date: July 4, 2013Applicant: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventor: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.

Publication number: 20130153211Abstract: According to some embodiments, a borehole deployable apparatus is described that can be used to generate strong vibrations in a subterranean rock formation. In some embodiments, the apparatus accelerates a mass using mechanisms built into the tool and causes the mass to strike the borehole wall. The mechanisms can control the mass acceleration, and the frequency of strikes. In some embodiments, the apparatus is designed for use in the field of petroleum recovery where the vibrations are used to create or re-establish a flow rate for the fluids in the formation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2012Publication date: June 20, 2013Applicant: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventor: Schlumberger Technology Corporation
