Sprinkler Heads Patents (Class 169/37)
  • Patent number: 11326730
Abstract: A support assembly comprises a mounting bracket and a coupling component. The mounting bracket comprises a first material and has an engagement surface defining a void along a first axis. The coupling component comprises a second material, which is different than the first material. The coupling component has a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion. The intermediate portion extends through, and partially fills, the void defined by the mounting bracket. The intermediate portion defines a fluid passageway about the first axis within the void and also presents a locking surface. The locking surface abuts the engagement surface to prevent rotation of the coupling component with respect to the mounting bracket.

  • Patent number: 11135535
Abstract: The present invention discloses a filter comprising a tube extending from a first end to a second end and having a bore with an internal cross-sectional area. The tube comprises an inlet with an inlet cross-sectional area which is positioned through the first end of the tube. The tube also comprises an outlet with an outlet cross-sectional area, wherein the inlet cross-sectional area is less than the outlet cross-sectional area and so debris small enough to enter the inlet will tend not to block the outlet, which is larger. The filter further comprises a plurality of further inlets, often slots, in the tube between an outside thereof and the bore. In a preferred embodiment, the first end may be tapered and especially dome shaped. This helps to direct debris towards an outside of the tube, where it is less likely to be drawn into the filter and potentially block it or a downstream component, such as a nozzle. The filter may be attached to a pipeline and a nozzle.

Abstract: A fire protection sprinkler includes a body having an inlet end, including a threaded base configured to connect to a fluid supply conduit, an outlet end, and a water passage defined therein. The water passage includes an inlet orifice, provided at the inlet end of the body, an output orifice, provided at the outlet end of the body, and an interior surface formed of a material having a weighted average lead content of 0.25% or less. A seal cap, that moves between a closed position, in which the seal cap seals the output orifice of the water passage, and thereby prevents flow of a fluid from the fluid supply conduit through the output orifice, and an open position, in which the seal cap does not seal the output orifice of the water passage, has water-exposed surfaces formed of a material having a weighted average lead content of 0.25% or less.

  • Patent number: 10046190
Abstract: A horizontal sidewall fire protection sprinkler includes a sprinkler body, a sealing assembly, a sleeve body, a yoke, a load screw, levers, a soldered link, a slide plate, a deflector support member, a deflector, and a spring. When ambient temperature in an occupancy reaches a predetermined temperature, the soldered link fails, the levers release, and the yoke and the load screw are forced away from the sprinkler body. The spring forces the slide plate and the deflector support member away from an inner wall of the sprinkler body toward an opening at an outer end of the sleeve body, and the deflector support member and the deflector protrude from the outer end of the sleeve body. The sealing assembly is released from a sealed state, and the fire protection sprinkler outputs fluid from a fluid supply to the occupancy.

  • Patent number: 9868005
Abstract: A fire protection sprinkler is provided with a skipping shield having air flow passages therethrough to reduce the negative impact that the shield has on the thermal response of the sprinkler. By providing holes, slots, louvers, or mesh to the skipping shield, water from adjacent flowing sprinklers can still be blocked from impinging on the thermal element. The shield will block water but allow hot gas from the fire to flow through the shield thereby improving the response time of the thermal element.
