  • Patent number: 8393040
Abstract: A bedding removal apparatus for removing bedding material in livestock free stalls is attached to a vehicle such as a skid steer. The bedding removal apparatus includes an auger configured to extend into the bedding of the free stall and draw the bedding toward a curb. The bedding removal apparatus includes a scraper engaging an inner end of the auger to remove bedding from the auger and deposit the bedding into the alley. The auger is mounted to a shaft which is positioned at an angle with respect to the curb and a movable frame to which the shaft is attached. The shaft may be angled down and forward with respect to the movable frame. A fixed frame is mounted to the vehicle and the movable frame is pivotably attached to the fixed frame. An actuator is configured to raise the movable arm from a position with the auger engaging the bedding to a raised position for movement or maneuvering of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5078214
Abstract: A method of preparing land for tree planting includes the step of ameliorating small zones of the land required for planting. These zones may be between the rows of stumps after tree felling and are of the order of one meter square and 25 to 75 cms deep. The zones are ameliorated by grabbing a volume of soil in selected zones, which disturbs the soil in those zones, and allowing it, in an ameliorated state, to re-occupy that volume.

  • Patent number: 4944353
Abstract: An agricultural machine comprises a self-propelled chassis (1) and an arrangement for displacement of the working member (9) over the field surface, comprising a hermetic chamber (3) with a port (4), a source (2) of a fluid agent pumped into the chamber (3) under a pressure, and a flexible hose (7) wound onto a drum (5) and internally accommodating a tractive element (8). A section of the tractive element (8) projecting from a free end of the hose (7) mounts an attachment carrying the working member (9) and movably connected with the flexible hose (7). The free end of the hose (7) is passed through the chamber (3), turned inside out and hermetically secured in the port (4) of the chamber (3) so that it forms an annular space (A) communicating with the chamber (3) and by changing its volume under the action of the fluid agent moves the hose (7) over the field, which pushes in front of itself the attachment carrying the working member (9).

  • Patent number: 4944140
Abstract: An automatic guidance system for a lawn mower comprises four tension cables (10 to 13) each anchorged at a point (15) adjacent one of the corners of a quadrilateral area and each wound round a winch drum (16 to 19) on the mower, a motor (60) on the mower is arranged to drive the four winch drums selectively in pairs, one drum winding-in while the other winds out, by means of a common gear ring 63 which is shifted into one of four different driving positions determined by a guide plate 68 in a square opening (70). The plate is shifted automatically from one position to the next when the mower approaches any one of the automatically adjustable cleats (20) on the individual cables. The mower thus follows a rectangular path of diminishing size.

  • Patent number: 4756260
Abstract: The combination of a self-powered reel dolly and a traveling plow injector carriage joined together by a traveling hard hose supply line is disclosed. The plow injector carriage carries a multiple shank plow and a plurality of injector pipes which, when the plow blades are engaged in the ground, provide sub-surface injection of liquified sludge or other waste materials which is supplied to the carriage through the hard hose supply line. As the reel dolly winds in the supply line, the latter correspondingly pulls in or returns the plow injector carriage from an initial downfield position to a final "home" position adjacent the reel dolly. In addition to underground dispersion of the effluent through the injector pipes, an additional above-ground water gun and/or spreader manifold can be used as desired.

  • Patent number: 4161143
Abstract: An automatic steering mechanism is provided for causing a large farm tractor or other prime mover to selectively follow a predetermined path such as a furrow previously formed in a field. It is contemplated that the prime mover is provided with a steering gear and a fluid power circuit for operating that steering gear. The automatic steering mechanism includes path sensing means such as a furrow follower mounted for deployment in a lowered position in the field furrow. A first linking assembly connects this furrow follower to a fluid power guidance valve functionally disposed in the fluid power circuit. Here, this first linking assembly interconnects the furrow follower and a valve spool. A second linking assembly interconnects the prime mover steering gear and a floating valve body. As these linking assemblies move the valve spool and valve body relative to one another, fluid flow is caused in the fluid power circuit to cause steering action.
