Abstract: A spring tooth chisel plow has its upper shank secured within a channel retainer pivotally mounted adjacent the rear edge of the retainer to a mounting bracket secured to a tool bar. The shank of the chisel plow is held within the channel retainer by a transverse clamping bar positioned radially from the main pivot, the forward end of the shank being fixed to the channel retainer. The upper surface of the retainer normally abuts a complementary surface on the mounting bracket, which supports an upwardly extending compression spring assembly. A tension bolt pivotally connects the forward end of the retainer to the upper end of the compression spring assembly, whereby force exerted on the chisel point of the plow is resisted by the compression spring assembly.
Abstract: The tool shanks of an agricultural implement such as a cultivator or chisel plow are removably fixed to assemblies which include a holder pivotally connected to the rear side of a mounting member. The mounting member is recessed on its upper side and provided with an overlying clamp arm by which the assembly is affixed to the tool bar of the implement. A tension spring connected between the mounting member and the lower end of the shank holder reacts against swing of the shank holder on its pivotal connection to the mounting member in use of the implement; and the mounting member and shank holder have aligned stops and abutments above and below their pivotal connection which limit the swing of the shank holder.
Abstract: An attachment for a jib crane to enable it to be used for grading and carrying out other work on sloping banks has a more or less horizontal auxiliary jib mounted beneath the main jib of the crane, a carriage movable fore and aft along the auxiliary jib, a guide frame extending forwardly from the carriage, a tool carrier movable in either direction along the length of the guide frame, and a suspension tie connecting the guide frame to the jib of the crane. The tool carriage is provided with a scraper blade or other tool appropriate to an operation to be carried out, and is hauled, usually upwardly, along the guide frame by a cable operated by the winding gear of the crane.
Abstract: A self-restoring spring trip cultivator shank assembly adapted to be supported from a mounting bracket secured to the transverse tool bar of a ground-working agricultural implement. The lower end of the cultivator shank carries a ground-working tool and the forward end extends between a pair of laterally spaced side plates which are supported by the mounting bracket contiguous the under surface of the tool bar, the forward end of the cultivator shank being adapted to pivot about the peripheral surface of a pivot pin which extends between and through the laterally spaced side plates. An abutment member in the form of leaf spring which extends in overlying contacting engagement to the upper surface of the cultivator shank is suitably held against the forward end portion of the cultivator shank to maintain the cultivator shank in pivotal bearing relation against the peripheral surface of the pivot pin.
Abstract: A rotary hoe implement, having hoe support arms independent of adjacent hoe support arms, and a selectively adjustable means for varying the downward pressure exerted by the leaf spring biasing means acting on each support arm.
