Plural Longitudinally Spaced Wheels Patents (Class 172/356)
  • Patent number: 10828211
Abstract: A hospital bed, trolley or lifter includes a steering wheel mounted on a wheel support arm extending from which is a ratchet mechanism which can co-operate with a tooth of an adjustment mechanism. When the tooth is engaged in the ratchet teeth of the ratchet mechanism the wheel can be raised and held in the raised position until the tooth is disengaged. The wheel adjustment mechanism also includes an eccentric wheel for raising the tooth in a periodic manner to cause periodic raising of the wheel. A damper is attached to the support arm for dampening the drop of the wheel when the tooth is disengaged. A mechanism provides a steering wheel which can be held at intermediate positions between its uppermost and lowermost positions and which can be held in an engaged position in a plurality of different positions relative to casters of the bed or trolley. The system can also make use of a small capacity drive motor whilst still retaining speed of operation.

  • Publication number: 20120080204
Abstract: This application includes information and drawings for a device which is operated by a person, which can be used to move material such as dirt or sand in a method which allows for easy leveling of the material. It is a blade which is connected to two wheels, one at either end of the blade. A handle is also connected to the blade which a person uses to pull the device across the surface of the material to be moved. The blade is situated perpendicular to the direction of travel. The handle is connected to the blade parallel to the direction of travel, and perpendicular to the blade. The handle is affixed to the blade at an angle which leaves the end of the handle, the part grasped by the operator, at approximately waist level.

  • Patent number: 5048615
Abstract: An apparatus for trimming weeds and grass employs a prime mover to power a rotating cutting head. Three wheels are used to support the weight of the trimmer, and the prime mover is uniquely mounted to the trimmer such that lowering the cutting head is easily accomplished by tipping the trimmer. Cutting height is adjusted by way of an adjustable height arm, and a secondary handle is provided to receive and translate an upward urging force into a tipping motion. The cutting head can be easily removed and a brush, snow blade or blower can be installed thereto for accommodating a plurality of lawn care tasks.

  • Patent number: 4982800
Abstract: A tool for cutting elongated turf strips has a cutting head secured to lateral stabilizing members. The cutting head is a rectangular box-shaped member having forward peripheral cutting edges. The stabilizing members have rollers that ride on the turf surface to ensure a uniform cutting depth of the cutting head. An upwardly and rearwardly directed handle is pivotally connected to the top wall of the cutting head to facilitate moving the cutting head through turf to cut a strip of sod therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4079788
Abstract: A hand-pushable, tilling device includes a main frame carrying ground-engaging front and rear wheels, handle means on the frame and a selection of tilling tools, including at least a furrow-forming tool and a cultivating tool, each having a shank portion terminating in a transversely extending soil-penetrating projection. The main frame includes a tool-holding frame supported for pivotal movement about a lateral, horizontal axis. In the uppermost position of the tool-holding frame, the latter frame presents a generally horizontally extending recess into which the shank portion of either tool is slidably mountable and locked preferably by a spring-urged latching means. The depth of penetration and the angle of penetration of the soil-penetrating projecting portion of the selected tool is varied preferably by screw means passing through a support member pivoted on a lateral, horizontal axis upon the main frame and secured to a pivoted second support member attached to the tool-holding frame.
