Patent number: 5354147Abstract: A pulverizing machine with a cutter assembly adapted to be towed when the machine is moving either forward or in reverse. The machine includes a frame, a plurality of wheels supporting the frame, a cutter assembly carried by the frame and a pair of elevation cylinders for raising and lowering the cutter assembly. The cutter assembly has a cutter housing and a cutter drum rotatably mounted within the cutter housing. The cutter housing is pivotally suspended from the frame by a pair of chain cases, one on each side. Each chain case contains a chain drive assembly connected to the cutter drum to drive the rotation of the cutter drum. Cutter teeth extend from the cutter drum to pulverize material as the cutter drum is lowered and rotated into the material. A pair of rear cylinders are mounted between the rear of the cutter housing and the frame. When the machine is operated in the forward direction, the chain cases tow the cutter assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1993Date of Patent: October 11, 1994Inventor: George W. Swisher, Jr.

Patent number: 5190398Abstract: An apparatus for pulverizing a surface such as a road bed, parking lot, an interstate shoulder or the like. The apparatus comprises a frame with a cutting means secured thereto. A bidirectional drive and control means is also provided to enable the apparatus to make multiple passes over a surface while in an operating condition without turning the apparatus around. A system for adding liquid to the surface being pulverized may also be included.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1991Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Inventor: George W. Swisher, Jr.

Patent number: 5092408Abstract: A control device for use in a dual function machine includes a first disconnecting device for connection between a first operator's control knob and at least one control valve usable for controlling a first function of the machine. A second disconnecting device is provided for connection between a second operator's control knob and at least one second control valve usable for controlling a second function of the machine. The disconnecting devices are arranged for mounting in actuating relationship to a swivel-type operator's seat, the first disconnecting device being actuated for disabling the second function when said seat is in a first position for operating the first function and the second disconnecting device being actuated for disabling the first function when the seat is in a second position for operating the second function.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1990Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Case CorporationInventors: Andre Tatara, Jose Andiano, Robert McCraig

Patent number: 4819738Abstract: An implement supporting vehicle comprises an elongate implement support frame, along one side of which two drive units which propel the vehicle are mounted equidistance from the center of the vehicle. Two castor wheels are mounted along the other side of the frame. The drive units are moveable between a first working direction in which the vehicle can be propelled in a first direction transverse to the longitudinal extent of the frame and a second transport direction in which the vehicle can be propelled in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. A moveable operators cabin is mounted with the frame.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1986Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Inventor: Glen L. Fountain

Patent number: 4487286Abstract: An agricultural tractor having at least four side-by-side pneumatic rear tires which provide a relatively narrow path of travel, there being a narrow rear portion of the tractor's body having about the same width or less as seen in plan as each of the tires and which is centrally disposed between the tires. A three-point lifting device extends rearwardly from the rear body portion. A front body portion carries an engine and the two body portions are pivotable relative to one another about a substantially vertical axis. An operator's seat and operating controls in a console are located within a cabin mounted above the rear wheels, the console being turnable through substantially 180.degree. about a substantially vertical axis so that the operator occupies a turnable seat which faces either generally forward or generally to the rear whereby the operator has a direct view of an implement attached to the lifting device.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1983Date of Patent: December 11, 1984Inventor: Cornelis van der Lely

Patent number: 4361205Abstract: A tractor of acceptable width for highway travel having a narrow body portion between the front and rear wheels, such width being less than the width of each pneumatic tire mounted on the wheels. Four side-by-side rotatably mounted tires on each axle have narrow body portions disposed centrally and closely between them, such body portions having an articulated connection about a vertical axis at the after part of the front wheels with the forward body portion extending forward from the front wheels where it mounts the engine and fuel tanks in a body part which is substantially wider than the portions to the rear thereof. The engine powers the front wheels and a power transmitting linkage connects it with the rear wheels through the front and rear body portions which, with lateral projections, house a differentials and the necessary shaft bearings.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1980Date of Patent: November 30, 1982Inventor: Cornelis van der Lely
