Pivotable About Longitudinal Axis (e.g., Lateral Levelling, Etc.) Patents (Class 172/459)
  • Patent number: 4579178
Abstract: A grader attachment for tractors includes a support designed to be secured to the frame of the tractor intermediate the front and rear wheels and projecting laterally from the tractor. An arm is pivotally coupled intermediate its ends to the support for swinging through a vertical arc. A tiltable mounting head pivotally secures a grading blade to the outermost end of the arm and the components of the attachment are arranged so that the arm and components carried thereby can be swung to a near vertical position for clearing obstacles such as may be encountered in landscaping operations.

  • Patent number: 4411323
Abstract: A grading machine (10) is disclosed. The grading machine (10) includes a main frame (14), a center frame (16), and a rear frame (18). A grading blade (20) is connected to the main frame (14) for pivotable motion about a vertical axis. A pair of spaced wheels (22) is carried by the rear frame (18). The tilt of the blade (20) can be adjusted by rotating the center frame (16) and the main frame (14) connected thereto about a horizontal axis extending in the direction of travel of the machine (10). The height of the blade (20) can be adjusted by adjusting the angular relationship between the center frame (16) and the main frame (14) about a second horizontal axis of a coupling rod (96).

  • Patent number: 4328869
Abstract: An implement with a wing lift wherein the wing is displaceable from a wheel supported floating, ground working position approximately 180.degree. to a transport position where it lies inverted on the implement. The wing lift includes a pair of toggle links with one link pivotally connected to the wing hinge, a stop on the wing hinge, a lift arm pivotally connected to the implement central frame hinge structure and to the other toggle link and a hydraulic cylinder mounted on the central frame with the rod end pivotally connected to the lift arm and the other link of the toggle links. The lift arm also has a roller for contact by the wing hinge ramp. The toggle link construction allows the wing to float upwardly and downwardly in the working position without affecting the cylinder. The toggle links, upon abutting the stop, raise the wing when the cylinder is retracted until the links break wherein the roller engages the wing hinge ramp to support the wing to and in the inverted position without wing fall.

  • Patent number: 4266617
Abstract: A tractor having a frame supported by ground-engaging drive wheels, a tool bar carried by the tractor and on which various implements may be mounted, the tool bar being universally mounted on the frame whereby the implement may be raised above or lowered to the ground, and can follow the contour of the ground, a power unit also mounted on the tool bar so as to have a direct driving connection to the implement not affected by the universal "floating" movement of the implement and tool bar, and a driving connection between the power unit and the drive wheels, of a type not affected by the relative movability of the tool bar and tractor frame, in order that both the implement and the tractor may be driven by a single power unit. Mechanism is also provided for pivoting the tool bar to elevate the implement above the ground when desired, for supporting the tool bar while implements are changed, and for holding the implement firmly against the ground when required.

  • Patent number: 4239251
Abstract: A compensating hitch adapted to be coupled between a three-point draft system at the rear end of a wheeled tractor and the front end of a trailing earthworking implement which is wheel supported rearwardly of an earthworking blade thereof; the hitch including a link and lever array which functions to maintain the implement and its earthworking blade in a constant pre-set working position when the tractor traverses uneven ground, and which--with a conventional hitch--would cause the trailing implement and its blade to undesirably vary up and down from such constant pre-set working position.

  • Patent number: 4191262
Abstract: A light soil tillage implement is adapted to be drawn by a farm tractor, and is designed to perform a light tillage immediately preceeding fertilizing, planting, and/or other farming operations. The implement comprises a frame having support wheels thereon engaging the ground, one or more tool bars having ground working tools thereon, and a mounting mechanism for each tool bar connecting each tool bar with the frame. Each mounting mechanism comprises a series of linkage elements which resiliently bias the working tools downwardly into the soil when the implement is in a tilling position. The mounting mechanism is adapted to positively lift the tools and tool bars out of engagement with the ground when it is desired to transport the implement, and further individually mounts each tool bar in a manner which allows the same to laterally rotate about a central point thereon in order to follow the contour of the soil independent from the other tool bars.

  • Patent number: 4189009
Abstract: A wheel mounted earth moving scraper for towing behind a tractor or the like. The scraper mounted on a wheel axle. The scraper characterized by a scraper housing attached to a pivot axle which is pivotally attached to the wheel axle for pivoting the scraper housing transverse to the direction of travel of the scraper so that as the wheels mounted on the wheel axle travel on the ground surface, the scraper housing may be tilted independently of the wheels for levelling, grading, terracing, removing dirt build-up from buildings, tree rows and fences, and digging ditches.

  • Patent number: 4050523
Abstract: The invention provides a folding wing disc harrow wherein a hydraulic operating mechanism is provided for folding and unfolding the wings through an arc of more than 180.degree. through the positive bidirectional linear movement of the plunger of a double acting hydraulic cylinder cooperating with the wing to which it is connected, for said folding and unfolding operations, and which mechanism allows a limited angular free floating motion of the wing above and below the horizontal "unfolded" or "working" position when the hydraulic control valve is set accordingly. The connection of the hydraulic piston rod with the wing is so organized that the straight line motion of the piston rod is enabled to fold and unfold the wing through an arc well in excess of 180.degree. and is organized to allow a limited free floating action of the wing for following the soil surface variations. The ability of the present invention to swing the wing through 180.degree.
