  • Patent number: 9439339
Abstract: An attachment for agricultural implements which tills soil compacted by the wheels of the agricultural implement it is attached to. In one arrangement the power and force used to till the soil is gained from the torque of the machine pulling the agricultural implement it is attached to, alternatively the tilling device is independently powered. This arrangement reduces compaction caused by the wheels of row-crop planters through the use of a shank or rolling tines. The tilling device is mounted directly behind wheels of the agricultural implement. The tilling device has the ability to raise and lower into the soil with the engaging and disengaging of the implement. In addition, in its current form it can independently be disengaged from use by raising and locking it up out of the soil, even if the implement remains engaged.

  • Patent number: 8646543
Abstract: A farm implement has a frame that is foldable between an extended, working position and a folded, for-transport position has a hydraulic system that controls the flow of hydraulic fluid to a series of actuators that raise and lower the implement. The hydraulic system is controlled by a control lever or arm that rotates a rockshaft to open and close hydraulic valves to change the flow of hydraulic fluid to the actuators. To prevent the unintentional lowering of the implement frame when the implement is in transport, a lockout arrangement engages the rockshaft to prevent rotation of the rockshaft when the frame is in the folded position. The lockout arrangement locks out the rockshaft automatically when the frame is raised to the folded position.

Abstract: A flexible rockshaft includes joint structure facilitating the adjustment of the rotational angle of rockshaft segments relative to each other. A link inserted between a rockshaft segment and the rockshaft flex member rotates on the same or a parallel pivot as adjacent rockshaft segment, and an adjustable length connecting mechanism on the link provides angular adjustment. In one embodiment, shims supported on the link are selectively clamped between a threaded stop and an internally threaded link. The number of shims may be easily varied to change the angular position of one rockshaft segment relative to the adjacent segment. In another embodiment, a simpler threaded member with positioning nuts is located on the additional link and provides inexpensive angular adjustability.

  • Publication number: 20020074139
Abstract: The implement has a main frame supported at the rear by ground-engaging transport wheels and at the front by ground-engaging gauge wheels. A hitch is pivotally connected to the front end of the main frame so that the hitch and frame can flex relative to one another when the towing tractor experiences different terrain than the main frame. A self-leveling mechanism is normally disengaged when the implement is in its field operating position so that the hitch is free to float relative to the frame during terrain changes. However, when engaged, the self-leveling mechanism operates to maintain the main frame level as the transport wheels are lowered to raise the main frame into its transport position. A latch, remotely actuatable from the tractor seat, determines whether the implement is in its self-leveling mode or floating hitch mode.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed which facilitates the ready attachment and detachment of coulters to a standard seed planting device. The seed planting device is typically of a type that is towed behind a tractor and automatically furrows the ground, deposits the seeds in the furrows at spaced intervals and covers the seeds over. The disclosed apparatus allows an operator to readily attach a plurality of coulters to this planting device thereby enabling its use for minimum-till, or no-till farming operations. The coulters are attached to a framework which is bolted onto the planter frame. This framework may be readily removed as a unit to enable the use of the planter in its standard condition. The framework locates the coulters in a forwardmost direction to increase the downward force on same so as to enable no-till farming operations with hard or rocky soil. This location of the coulters eliminates the need for ballast weights.
