    Abstract: A furrow closing wheel for closing an open furrow. The furrow closing wheel has a pair of rims mounted for rotation about a generally horizontal axis of rotation. The pair of rims are mounted at an angle with respect to one another with the rims being spaced apart. The distance between the rims decreases as the rims rotate from the top of the direction of rotation to the bottom of the direction of rotation and increases as the rims rotate from the bottom of the direction of rotation to the top of the direction of rotation. Spikes protrudes radially outwardly from the rims. Teeth extend inwardly and laterally from rims. The spikes are adapted to penetrate the sides of a furrow to crumble the furrow walls and push soil in the direction of the furrow opening and the teeth mesh to press down on the furrow to properly close the furrow.

    Abstract: A garden tiller tine assembly having an axle with a plate rigidly attached thereto. First blade structures are provided for engaging the soil and the blades are planar in configuration and have longitudinal axes. These blades are attached rigidly to the plate on one side in a plane obliquely disposed with respect to the horizontal axis of the axle, positioning a proximal edge of the first blade structure closest to the blade and a distal edge of the first blade farther from the plate than a proximal edge. Consequently, when the axle is rotated by a motor or the like in a first rotational direction, the proximal edge of the first blade will always be in front of the distal edge thereof whereby soil contact by the first blade will be thrown in a first lateral direction away from the plate. A second blade is attached to the other side of the plate.

The edge portions differ in upstanding posture when positioned for rotation in the intended direction.     Abstract: Tilling apparatus disclosed has a rotor shaft with axially spaced multiple tine and hub assemblies having hoe portions of adjacent tines overlapping one another. The apparatus is constructed as a central section and has wing sections pivotally connected to the central section. A first pivot axis for each wing section is the same horizontal plane as the rotor shaft. A first link connects at its lower end to the wing section at the first pivot axis and at its upper end to the central section at a second pivot axis. A thrust link driven by a two-way cylinder moves the wing section about the first pivot axis and then about the second pivot axis. Each tine hub is made in two half-bodies supporting two tines at 90 degrees, with a recess to turn adjacent hubs 30 degrees to one another. Each tine has a bevel on the outer side and a smooth hard surface on the inner side.

Each group is driven to rotate about a horizontal shaft extending substantially transverse to the direction of machine travel. The groups of cultivating members are preferably arranged in at least two groups located side-by-side and pivotable about transverse pivots to move vertically against spring opposition to avoid obstacles. Each cultivating member is made of semicircular plates fastened to rings on the horizontal shaft and the plates can have cuts that divide them into segment parts. The outer working portions of the plates can be offset so that neighboring members work paths that overlap or are closely adjacent one another. Each group has respective side plates and a hood supported by the plates and the hood is interconnected to the frame with a spring-loaded rod.

Stability in the folded condition and minimization of the number of hydraulic cylinders required are achieved through the use of a gravity operated lock arrangement associated with adjacent sections of the foldable wing frame units of the implement. The number of locks and hydraulic cylinders depends upon the total number of hinged sections used to form the base and wing units of the frame assembly. The inboard hydraulic cylinders are pivotally connected to respective draft beams on the base unit and each acts directly between such beam and the associated wing unit.
