  • Patent number: 7410005
Abstract: An agricultural ground working apparatus includes a mounting bracket adapted for attachment to an implement frame. A shank is pivotally attached to the mounting bracket about a shank pivot axis and extends downward from the mounting bracket to a lower end thereof adapted for engaging the ground. Right and left disc arms are pivotally attached at upper portions thereof to the mounting bracket such that the disc arms pivot about arm pivot axes independent of the shank. The disc arms extend rearward and downward from the mounting bracket on each side of the shank, and right and left discs are rotatably attached to lower portions of the corresponding right and left disc arms.

  • Patent number: 6484811
Abstract: A mulching unit for a mulching apparatus includes at least one cutting assembly or hammer having a rotatable support element and two cutting elements spaced apart from one another by a predetermined gap that allows debris to pass between the cutting elements, thereby increasing efficiency and enabling higher rotating speeds for sustained amounts of time. The cutting elements include tips that may be formed in one piece with the support element, e.g., a collar, and the tips may be covered with a protective layer of tungsten and/or carbide. Alternatively, the tips themselves can be made from tungsten and/or carbide and physically attached, e.g., by welding, to the collar to form an integral unit. The cutting elements may be mounted on support element halves that can independently rotate on a support rod of the mulching unit.

  • Patent number: 4364437
Abstract: A cultivating tool propelled by a walking attendant has sheet metal tines mounted on a rotating axle for rotation therewith. The tines are channel-shaped with axle-accommodating apertures through the flanges and also through the webs. When the axle is engaged through the flange apertures, the ends of the web engage the soil flatwise so as to provide a hoeing action; and when the axle is engaged through the web apertures, the ends of the web engage the soil edgewise so as to provide a chopping action.

  • Patent number: 4126186
Abstract: A cultivating implement has rows of rotatable soil working cultivating members that are mounted on beams extending transverse to the direction of travel, one behind the other. The members rotate about upwardly extending axes and can be positioned along the beams to cooperate with one another and work soil between rows of plants. Assemblies of crumbler-rollers are secured to the frame and positioned to engage soil worked by the cultivating members but avoid the plant rows. Each assembly is secured by a support arm adjustably settable along the length of a beam at the rear of the frame. Each assembly is a pair or two rollers journalled on a common shaft and each roller has two supports, one of which is movable along the shaft to and from the other to adjust the width of the roller. Each support mounts bars that form the periphery of the roller.
