Patent number: 10893643Abstract: A tillage implement has a main frame towed in a forward working direction and toolbar assemblies supported on the main frame. Each assembly has an elongate toolbar member transverse to the forward working direction with tillage units spaced along the toolbar member for working the ground. A pivot supports each toolbar at an intermediate location on the toolbar for angular adjustment about an upright axis relative to the main frame. Followers at opposing ends of each toolbar member are received in respective guides at fixed locations on the main frame such that the followers are slidable within the guides in the forward working direction while restricting rotation of the toolbar member about a longitudinal axis of the toolbar member relative to the main frame. Angular position of each toolbar is controlled by an actuator with an attached mechanical indicator that can be read by an operator.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2020Date of Patent: January 19, 2021Inventor: Johan Redekop

Publication number: 20130327550Abstract: A tillage implement has gang assemblies of rotatable tillage tools that can be angle-adjusted from the seat of the towing tractor using hydraulic actuators. The tillage tools may comprise generally flat, wavy coulter blades or the like so that the machine may be set up for vertical tillage with the coulters aligned at a zero degree angle with the path of travel of the implement or for residue management operations with the coulters maintained at an oblique angle of up to ten degrees relative to the path of travel. A six degree angle is preferred for the residue management position. A master-slave hydraulic flow arrangement for the actuators assures simultaneous actuation, while mechanical synchronizing apparatus between the two front gang assemblies on the center frame section of the machine assures synchronized movement of those assemblies. Mechanical motion-transmitting mechanism transmits the hydraulically powered adjusting movement of the front gang assemblies to the rear gang assemblies.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2013Publication date: December 12, 2013Applicant: Great Plains Manufactuing, Inc.Inventors: Rodney D. Publication number: 20100096149Abstract: A disc gang for use with an agricultural implement includes a pair of front and a pair of rear disc openers mounted to a carrier boom by a mounting arm that can be independently raised and lowered as desired. The front and rear disc openers are mounted such that the openers can oscillate in response to surface undulations independently of one another. Moreover, the disc openers of each pair are free to oscillate in response to surface contours independently of one another.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2009Publication date: April 22, 2010Inventors: Terrance A. Patent number: 5944116Abstract: An apparatus for positioning a work object relative to a primary support between first and second positions, the apparatus having a first mount adapted to be mounted on the work object; a second mount adapted to be mounted on the primary support; a linking assembly interconnecting the first and second mounts; and a control system interconnecting the work object and the linking assembly for selectively applying force to the linking assembly to move the work object between the first and second positions.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1997Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Inventor: Bernard O. Patent number: 4591003Abstract: Forward and rear gang disc harrow carriers are hingedly joined near corresponding ends by a vertical axis hinge structure. Near their other corresponding ends, the gang disc harrow carriers are interconnected through a four element linkage having an operating cylinder and a latch bar whereby the carriers can be positioned at varying prescribed angles for working the soil and in parallel locked relationship for transport. Transport wheels are pivotally attached to the rear carrier and are equipped with power cylinders which raise and lower the wheels for lowering and raising the rear carrier. The front carrier has a pivotal connection with a drawbar and another power cylinder is connected between the drawbar and front carrier and is operable to raise and lower the front carrier.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1985Date of Patent: May 27, 1986Assignee: Rome Industries, Inc.Inventors: Mark W. Patent number: 4180135Abstract: Hydraulic mechanism for varying the angular relationship between a pair of adjacent end-connected disc harrow gangs which uses the same power source that ordinarily is employed for raising and lowering the harrow frame structure as a power source to actuate the gang angling mechanism. A bell crank lever mechanism embodying a pivot shaft, trailing wheel axle arms, and a crank arm, has the latter arm connected to the power source so that when the crank arm is swung in opposite fore and aft directions, the frame structure is raised or lowered.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1975Date of Patent: December 25, 1979Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventors: Eugen J. Patent number: 4157877Abstract: An apparatus for compacting subgrade and pavement materials during a road building operation, and which is characterized by the ability to selectively perform a plurality of distinct road rolling functions to thereby facilitate a road building operation. The apparatus is self-propelled and includes compacting means which comprises a pair of steel cylindrical rollers and two sets of rubber wheels having overlapping tracks. Provision is made for selectively moving the sets of rubber wheels into and out of operative engagement with the ground, whereby selective compaction by the independent operation of either the steel cylindrical rollers or the rubber wheels may be effected, and without simultaneous operation by the non-operating compacting means. A unitary steering system is also provided whereby the direction of the apparatus may be controlled when either compacting means is in operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1978Date of Patent: June 12, 1979Assignee: B.R.
