Patent number: 8016044Abstract: In an embodiment, an agricultural implement includes at least a first row of ground engaging tools, each of the tools spaced a first distance apart from one another, and a second row of ground engaging tools disposed behind the first row of ground engaging tools, each of the second row of ground engaging tools spaced a second distance apart from one another. The implement also includes a row of soil shaping disks disposed behind the second row of ground engaging tools, wherein a spacing between each of the soil shaping disks is not uniform and corresponds to whether the spacing is behind the first row of ground engaging disks or behind the second row of ground engaging disks.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2009Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: CNH America LLCInventors: Gaylen J. Patent number: 7048069Abstract: An agricultural implement consisting primarily of a towed frame supported on retractable wheels, the frame having a plurality of independently adjustable spindles for setting height and angle of attack for various size rotatable discs. Each disc is staggered to reduce resistance and clogging. Each group of discs further includes descending diameter discs at each end with the angle of attack increasing with each decrease in diameter while spacing between the discs decreases as the diameters are reduced. The implement further including harrow teeth or picks located at strategic points adjacent the discs to ensure uniform soil disruption, the disc assembly being convertible from single gang to double gang assembly and may include conventional harrow teeth sets and or unique soil leveler attachments.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2004Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Inventor: Gerald Bollich

Patent number: 6935435Abstract: A cultivating implement has transversely opposing sub-frames slidably mounted in the main frame of the implement to permit lateral positional adjustment of work implements carried by the sub-frames. The work implements are supported by a mounting apparatus providing a tilt adjustment, a horizontal rotational adjustment, and a transverse spacing adjustment for each respective work implement. A tilt control plate limits the transverse tilting movement of the work implement, while a rotation control plate limits the rotational movement of the work implement in a horizontal plane. A rotatable powered brush attachment can be supported on the sub-frame to provide a gentle cultivating action for the edges of plastic material covering the crop row. A pivot linkage operated through a hydraulic actuator provides simultaneous lateral movement of the opposing sub-frames to affect selective positional adjustment of the work implements. The frame is pivoted to the hitch to offset side hill operation.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2004Date of Patent: August 30, 2005Inventor: John E. Shenk

Patent number: 5628373Abstract: An implement having a frame adapted to be transported in earth traversing movement along a predetermined path of travel; a first earth working tool mounted on the frame disposed for engagement with the earth during such earth traversing movement and operable to move earth laterally of the path of travel; a second earth working tool mounted on the frame forwardly of the first earth working tool relative to the path of travel disposed for engagement with the earth during the earth traversing movement and operable to move earth laterally of the path of travel; and a third earth working tool mounted on the frame rearwardly of the first earth working tool relative to the path of travel and disposed for engagement with the earth during such earth traversing movement and operable to move earth laterally of the path of travel and wherein the directions of movement of the earth laterally of the path of travel by the first, second and third earth working tools is such as to work the earth substantially evenly and to reType: GrantFiled: September 12, 1995Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Inventor: Bernard O. Patent number: 5078216Abstract: A combination tillage apparatus for towing behind a tractor comprises an extended frame having a trunk member oriented along the direction of travel of the apparatus and at least one pair of parallel and spaced apart branch members oriented perpendicularly to the trunk member. Each one of a pluralilty of implements is mounted in a mounting mechanism and a stabilizing mechanism which provide independent angular, translational, and vertical adjustment of each of the implements relative to the frame. A first modified embodiment of the combination tillage apparatus allows angular adjustment of the implement relative to the stabilizing mechanism independently from the angular adjustment of the stabilizing mechanism relative to the frame.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 1990Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Inventor: Virgil Dick

Patent number: 4175886Abstract: Asphalt cutting apparatus for breaking up and windrowing old asphaltic pavement on a roadway or the like including the pavement adjacent to a curb or gutter. A plurality of laterally spaced, sharpened cutter discs are freely rotatably mounted on a support carriage. The support carriage is attached to a frame pivotally coupled at a forward pivot to a prime mover such as a truck or similar vehicle for movement along the asphalt surface. As the cutter discs are moved along the asphalt surface a hydraulic clamp cylinder provides a vertical movement about the forward pivot to vary the depth of cut and also maintains a downward pressure on the cutter discs and forces the discs to roll through and cut up the asphalt.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 1978Date of Patent: November 27, 1979Inventors: Frank F.
