Tools Simultaneously Adjustable About Their Individual, Spaced Vertical Axes Patents (Class 172/647)
  • Patent number: 5337834
Abstract: An earth moving machine attachment is disclosed comprising a plurality of disk units mounted to a disk unit mounting beam which is fixed to a beam pushing frame for pivotally coupling to a dozer or tractor C frame. The beam pushing frame is angled obtusely in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction from the direction of push by a pair of reciprocal operating hydraulic cylinders to grade the earth materials to one side or the other of the C frame. The disk unit mounting beam and attached disk units are hingedly connected to a parallel offset shaft of the beam pushing frame for tilting the disk blades to provide restricted floatation on the earth materials. A sliding feature of the hinged connection between the disk unit mounting beam and the beam pushing frame accommodates hydraulic power means of shifting the load relative to the pushing axis of the earth moving machine.

  • Patent number: 4778013
Abstract: A frame beam supports a plurality of plow bodies, the front plow body of which has a one-piece moldboard and is pivotable about an upwardly extending axis. Part of the moldboards of each of the following plow bodies is pivotable about an upwardly extending axis relative to the remainder of each such moldboard. Adjustment is made through rod systems from a common rod which is displaceable mechanically by a screwthreaded spindle or hydraulically by a piston and cylinder assembly. The latter adjustment is effected automatically in response to the tractive force required to drive the plow through the soil.

  • Patent number: 4646849
Abstract: A reversing and adjustment mechanism, especially for a reversible plough adapted for hydraulically adjustable furrow width and hydraulic reversing of the plough, wherein the reversing and adjustment mechanism comprises a hydraulic cylinder (8) with a "hydraulic memory" for adjustment of the furrow width. The oil chambers on both sides of the ordinary piston (15) in the adjustment cylinder (8) communicate with a reservoir (24) via two pilot-controlled check valves (26, 25) with open passage toward the adjustment cylinder (8) and a second direction-control valve (10). The chamber (31) in the adjustment cylinder (8) between the rear head and a freely movable piston (17) communicates on the one hand with a hydraulic cylinder (7) for reversing the plough, preferably with the rod end thereof, via a first check valve (14) with open passage toward the reversing cylinder (7), and on the other hand communicates with the reservoir (24) via a flow-control valve (28) and a first direction-control valve (9).

  • Patent number: 4592429
Abstract: A two-way gang plow is provided with a pair of front steering wheels muonted for steering adjustment relative to a pivoted front axle. The steering mechanism for the wheels is coupled to a steerable tail wheel through master and slave hydraulic cylinders in such manner that when a towing tractor turns in one direction the master cylinder moves with the turning of the front wheels and supplies hydraulic fluid pressure to the slave cylinder to operate the latter and turn the tail wheel in the direction opposite the turning direction of the front wheels. During roll-over from one operative side to the other, a lever mechanism is operated to turn the axle to correspond with the operative set of plow bottoms. Also, the plow bottoms are mounted pivotally on the plow frames and interconnected by parallel linkages for simultaneous adjustment of the lateral spacing between land sides of adjacent plow bottoms.

  • Patent number: 4577698
Abstract: A two-way gang plow is provided with a main support frame arranged for connection to a conventional three point hitch of a tractor. The forwardmost pair of plow bottoms are secured in fixed position on a portion of the roll-over plow frame that is fixed against angular adjustment relative to the longitudinal direction of movement of the plow by the tractor. The pairs of plow bottoms trailing the forwardmost pair are mounted on a plow frame that is pivoted to the fixed roll-over frame section for angular adjustment relative to the longitudinal axis of the main frame and hence the direction of the movement of the tractor. The pairs of plow bottoms rearwardly of the forward most pair also are mounted on the angularly adjustable frame for pivotal movement relative to said frame, for adjusting the land sides of the plow bottoms relative to said angularly adjustable frame.

  • Patent number: 4415040
Abstract: A fully mounted variable width plow of the roll-over type or not in which the tractor hitch links are pivoted about generally vertical axes permitting the hitch limited movement in a horizontal plane, which will allow the adjusted plow to maintain correct alignment under the action of the soil. The plow system includes a plow beam, to the forward end of which a forecarriage is pivotally attached about a vertical axis, and a plurality of interconnected plow bottom assemblies. Actuation of a hydraulic cylinder will result in equal pivotal movement of each plow bottom assembly relative to the plow beam as well as pivotal movement between the forecarriage and the plow beam.

  • Patent number: 4282935
Abstract: An adjustable width plow having at least three aligned sections with adjacent ends of the sections joined for relative motion about horizontal axes includes a forward furrow wheel mounted to the forward end of the front plow section for caster movement, a rear furrow wheel mounted to the rear end of the rear plow section for caster movement, a first or forward pair of land wheels supporting the plow adjacent the rear end of the forward section, and a second or rear pair of land wheels supporting the plow adjacent the rear end of the intermediate plow section. A steering mechanism controls the forward land wheels in turns in response to the turning of the tractor pulling the plow, and this steering mechanism also adjusts the forward land wheels for proper steering and toeing as the width of the furrow cut by the plows is adjusted. The rear land wheels are not steered in response to the turning of the tractor, but they are adjusted for proper steering and toeing when the plow units are adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4186806
Abstract: A variable width furrow-spacing plow system embodied in an implement having a laterally adjustable tractor hitch, an angularly adjustable plow-carrying main frame, and hydraulic means for correlating the lateral movement of the hitch and angular position of the frame, to the end that for any given furrow spacing the hitch point of the implement will fall closer to the line of pull than has heretofore been possible, and minimum pulling force will be required to motivate the implement. The system embodies a pull bar or frame which has its forward end pivoted to the adjustable tractor hitch and its rear end pivoted to a medial region of the plow-carrying frame. A hydraulic ram controls the lateral adjustment of the hitch, while a second ram controls the angularity between the pull frame and the main frame. The two rams are phased for operation in unison under the control of a valve in the cab of the tractor.

  • Patent number: 4036305
Abstract: A plurality of plow units are mounted to a main frame of a plow system for rotation about their vertical axes. The plow units are spaced at equal lateral increments and at uniformly increased distances from a pivot connection between the main frame and a traction vehicle. The plow units are ganged together by means of a guide beam; and a power actuator controls the motion of the guide beam in rotating the plow units so that their cut lines take a predetermined position relative to the main frame. As the plow system is then used to plow ground, the main frame swings about its pivot connection to the tractor until the plow units line up with the direction of travel of the tractor, thereby adjusting the spacing between plow units automatically. The rear plow unit is mounted to a tail section which is pivotally mounted to the main frame and includes a rear wheel for supporting the distal end of the main frame and for steering the system as the tractor turns.
