Patent number: 11162246Abstract: Graders and methods of operation thereof. A grader includes a chassis, a saddle linkage, and a motion measurement system. The saddle linkage is supported for movement relative to the chassis and includes a mount movably coupled to the chassis, first and second arms each movably coupled to the mount, and a crossbar movably coupled to each of the first and second arms. The mount has a lock pin aperture, each of the first and second arms has a locking hole, and the crossbar has a plurality of locking holes. The lock pin aperture may be aligned with one locking hole of the first arm, the second arm, or the crossbar to position the saddle linkage in use of the grader. The motion measurement system is coupled to the saddle linkage and configured to measure movement or position of one or more components of the grader in use thereof.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2019Date of Patent: November 2, 2021Assignee: DEERE & COMPANYInventors: Michael G. Patent number: 7523569Abstract: A mounting for a side wing plough includes a mounting having two relatively movable sectorially formed elements, one of which being fixed to the plough and the other being connected to a lifting means for the leading end of the plough. The two elements register with one another and are guided thereby, the interengagement of the elements constituting the connection enabling movement of the plough and also permitting limited compensatory shifting of the plough upon encountering an immovable obstacle. The mounting could further include a tilt mechanism of limited stroke affording the capability of the plough to tilt toward the vehicle to accommodate unpredictable movement of the plough upon impacting an immovable obstacle.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2006Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Inventor: Normand Savard

Patent number: 4340119Abstract: The specification discloses a new blade positioning apparatus for use in motor graders, that provides improved visibility and allows the operator to easily control the elevation, transverse inclination, and position of the scraper blade beneath the machine. The device comprises a transverse "W" shaped beam pivotally mounted to the upper surface of the support frame of the grader to allow partial rotation of the beam about the main frame. A link member passes beneath the frame of the grader and is secured to the beam member, such that the beam and link members encircle the frame. The link member cooperates with a releasable lock mechanism for securing the beam member at selected adjusted positions relative to the support frame. According to a preferred aspect of the invention, the lock mechanism includes a bar lock pivoted at one end beneath the frame of the grader and is received in tapered notches provided in the link.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1980Date of Patent: July 20, 1982Assignee: Champion Road Machinery LimitedInventor: Jack G. Patent number: 4332299Abstract: A cultivator attachment is mounted to the side of a tractor and includes an outwardly projecting boom assembly with first and second boom sections. The boom sections telescope and a cultivator head with a rotating cultivator member is connected to the free end of the second boom section. A first hydraulic cylinder raises and lowers the boom assembly while a second such cylinder extends and retracts the second boom section to move the cultivator head inwardly toward and outwardly away from the tractor to avoid obstacles in its path. A hydraulic motor on the head rotates the cultivator member about its axis. A side tilt mechanism located at the free end of the second boom section tilts the axis of the cultivator member in the plane of the boom assembly to direct the discharge of material from the cultivator head toward or away from the tractor during cultivation.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1980Date of Patent: June 1, 1982Assignee: Eldon K. Patent number: 4316510Abstract: A soil cultivating machine has a beamed frame, and working members arranged in pairs. Two working members are mounted one behind the other, preferably on a common carrier beam which is releasably secured to transverse beams of the frame. Thus the two working members and the carrier beam constitute a working unit which is readily releasable from the frame. The two working members of the pair are interlinked by a connecting rod to ensure a uniform operating depth over irregular ground and the members can be located on opposite sides of the carrier beam as viewed in plan. In one embodiment, the working members are mounted on pivot pins journalled to different frame beams and the members are arranged in rows that are inclined to the direction of travel. The beams with working members can be arranged in groups that are hinged to one another for elevation to a reduced transport position.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1980Date of Patent: February 23, 1982Inventor: Cornelis van der Lely

Patent number: 4084643Abstract: A motor grader has improved support structure for mounting the grader blade on the circle blade support arms and for controlling blade tilt. A bearing housing structure consists of a transverse structural member with integral upright bearing housings at its two ends, is slightly shorter than the space between the support arms, and is carried on pivots at the lower ends of the arms with facing bearings so the bearing housing structure reinforces the arms against lateral deflection. The grader blade support rails extend through upper and lower jaws in the bearing housings with the weight of the blade carried in bearing plates in the upper jaws and the lower rail guided between parallel upright bearing plates in the lower jaw which is otherwise free of contact with the lower jaw. Blade tilt is controlled by a single hydraulic cylinder pivotally mounted on the circle midway between the arms with its piston rod pivotally connected to the transverse structural member.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1976Date of Patent: April 18, 1978Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.Inventor: Gene Baptist Easterling

Patent number: 4019588Abstract: A bulldozer assembly comprises a pair of laterally spaced push arms pivotally interconnected between a blade thereof and a vehicle. A pair of lift cylinders are also pivotally connected between the vehicle and the blade for selectively raising or lowering the blade relative to the vehicle. A tilt mechanism for selectively tilting the normally upright blade in a vertical plane comprises first and second members each pivotally interconnected between the vehicle and the blade on an outboard side thereof. A double-acting cylinder is pivotally interconnected between inboard sides of the members for selectively pivoting the members relative to each other to tilt the blade.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1975Date of Patent: April 26, 1977Assignee: Caterpillar Tractor Co.Inventor: Thomas P. Patent number: 3999315Abstract: An adjustable attachment for a backhoe comprises a single tooth pivotally connected to a frame, the tooth being capable of taking a plurality of angularly spaced apart positions on the frame. Tensioning means hold the tooth in a desired position, but also allow the position of the tooth to be changed by the backhoe operator by using the backhoe controls without having to leave the controls.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1975Date of Patent: December 28, 1976Inventor: John Charles Nye
