Publication number: 20090126962Abstract: When the mode change knob of a multi-mode hammer drill is moved to the hammer only position, an electronic sensor sends a signal to a control logic circuit. When the user then depresses the trigger mechanically closing the ON/OFF switch, the control logic circuit applies a voltage either to a holding relay or to the gate of a triac which enables the relay or triac to conduct, thus providing a parallel circuit by-passing the ON/OFF switch. Consequently, when the user releases the trigger and opens the ON/OFF switch, the parallel relay or triac maintains current flow to the motor. It can be seen that in hammer only mode the user can activate the hammer drill by simply tapping the trigger to depress it and does not need to hold down trigger during use of the hammer in operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2009Publication date: May 21, 2009Inventors: Achim Jung, Rene Jager, Ian S. Patent number: 7533736Abstract: A vibration reduction apparatus for use with a hammer tool having a hammer piston is disclosed. The hammer piston is caused to reciprocate in the cylinder by rotation of a gear wheel and crank drive. A cam is mounted around the gear wheel, a counterweight surrounds the piston cylinder, and a cam follower is provided on the counterweight. The cam follower on the counterweight is urged into contact with the cam by a biasing element. Patent number: 7527107Abstract: The invention relates to a hand-held working tool, having a first unit, powered by a vibration on operation and a second unit which may be displaced relative to the first unit. A vibration isolation device is arranged between the first and second unit, having an actuator, for generation of a control force. An operational force acting in the working direction (A) between the first and the second unit may be at least partly compensated by the control force. The actuator is pneumatically operated and comprises an air spring for vibration isolation. A working piston in an air spring percussion device on the working tool serves to supply compressed air for the air spring. Alternatively, the compressed air can be supplied by the oscillating relative movement between the first unit and the second unit.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2004Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: Wacker Construction Equipment AGInventors: Rudolf Berger, Wolfgang Schmid, Otto W. Patent number: 7252157Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a power tool having a further improved vibration reducing performance. The representative power tool may comprise a tool bit, an actuating mechanism, a dynamic vibration reducer. The actuating mechanism drives the tool bit linearly by means of pressure fluctuations so as to cause the tool bit to perform a predetermined operation. The dynamic vibration reducer has a weight that reciprocates under a biasing force of an elastic element to reduce vibration of the actuating mechanism. The weight may be driven by means of pressure fluctuations caused in the actuating mechanism. According to the invention, the weight of the dynamic vibration reducer can be actively driven by pressure fluctuations in the actuating mechanism for driving the tool bit. Therefore, regardless of the magnitude of vibration acting on the power tool, the dynamic vibration reducer can be forcedly and steadily operated.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2004Date of Patent: August 7, 2007Assignee: Makita CorporationInventor: Yonosuke Aoki

Patent number: 7096973Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a technique for further improving the vibration reducing performance in the power tool, while avoiding complicating the construction of the power tool. According to the present invention, a representative power tool may comprise a striker, a tool bit and a vibration reducer. The vibration reducer serves to reduce vibration on the striker by reciprocating in a direction opposite to the reciprocating direction of the striker. The path of the center of gravity of the vibration reducer is arranged to coincide with a path of the center of gravity of the striker. Patent number: 7025183Abstract: The invention relates to a pneumatic spring percussion mechanism comprising a driving piston moving back and forth in a housing of the percussion mechanism and a percussion piston, wherein a pneumatic spring is configured between the driving piston and the percussion piston. The movement of the driving piston can be transmitted to a percussion piston by means of said pneumatic spring. The driving piston can be driven by an electric linear motor and is connected to an aromatic of the linear motor, forming a single piece therewith. This arrangement makes it possible to eliminate the use of a conventional rotary motor and a crank mechanism to drive the driving piston.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2003Date of Patent: April 11, 2006Assignee: Wacker Construction Equipment AGInventors: Michael Steffen, Rudolf Berger, Wolfgang Schmid

Patent number: 6988563Abstract: A hammer drill is equipped with a connector shaft, which is rotationally driven by a motor, a spindle that transmits the rotation through a connector shaft, and a percussive impact impact mechanism that applies a percussive force in the axial direction to a drill bit held by the spindle through performing a reciprocating motion, in the axial direction, relative to a spindle that receives the rotation of the connector shaft through a motion converter mechanism. The hammer drill is provided with a percussive force converter from the percussive impact impact mechanism by changing the speed reduction ratio between the motor and the connector shaft. This makes it possible to adjust the percussive force according to the drill bit used.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2003Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd.Inventors: Kouichi Hashimoto, Masahide Shiratani, Mineaki Yokoyama, Yoshikazu Okada
