Patent number: 5969291Abstract: An overhead-line mast includes a bar-shaped and insulated mast head, current-carrying conductors fastened to insulators of the insulated mast head and a ground conductor disposed on a mast tip of the insulated mast head. The ground conductor is connected electrically to a neutral point on a mast base by a ground conductor connection extending in the interior of the overhead-line mast. The ground conductor connection is sheathed by an insulating layer. The insulating layer is covered in each case by an insulating cone at the level of the current-carrying conductors. An annular electrode extends in or on each insulating cone. An insulating filler is inserted between the insulating layer and the insulating cones on one hand and the insulators of the insulated mast head on the other hand.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1998Date of Patent: October 19, 1999Assignee: ABB Research LTDInventors: Arnaldo Bertazzi, Helmut Bohme, Johannes Kaumanns, Karl-Bernhard Muller, Gernot Schlayer, Andrea Catenacci

Patent number: 5412158Abstract: An electric wire insulators for connection with a T-shaped corner fence post is formed by a generally U-shaped rigid mounting member having parallel legs transversely spanning a T-shaped post. A pair of U-shaped bracket members each journalling a dielectric spool are provided with a threaded rod rigidly connected with the bight portion of the respective U-shaped bracket and threadedly entering the respective mounting member leg for impinging the mounting member on the T-shaped post. One of the U-shaped brackets may be angularly rotated about the axis of its threaded rod for disposing the axis of one dielectric spool normal to the axis of the other dielectric spool.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1993Date of Patent: May 2, 1995Inventor: M. Patent number: 4845317Abstract: An insulator and wire mounting structure for supporting an electrically conductive fence wire from a metal fence post having a generally T-shaped cross-section. The insulator and wire supporting member has a pair of leg portions which are deformable relative to each other to receive an intermediate portion of the T-post and after being brought into parallel alignment with each other receive a nut which threadably engages a thread set to tighten the mounting structure in position for supporting the wire.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1988Date of Patent: July 4, 1989Assignee: Dare Products, Inc.Inventor: Robert M. Wilson, Jr.

Patent number: 4771137Abstract: An electric fence wire insulator is formed as an integral, one-piece body of non-conductive synthetic resin and includes a transverse spark shield from which extends in one direction a pair of laterally spaced main legs terminating in a pair of laterally spaced feet configured to abut the arcuate or flat surface of a wooden or metal fence post. Openings through the feet receive nails or screws by which to secure the feet to the fence post. Projecting in the opposite direction from the spark shield are five laterally spaced fingers provided with inwardly facing arcuate grooves which are aligned transversely for the reception of an electric fence wire. Laterally spaced secondary legs inwardly of the main legs are shaped to provide two pairs of split circular retainers of different diameters for the frictional retention of different size rod type fence posts.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1987Date of Patent: September 13, 1988Inventor: Donald G. Thompson

Patent number: 4695677Abstract: A temperature and stretch compensating wire tensioning system. In parallel wire capacitive security systems, the maintenance of proper tension in the sensor wires in essential in order that false alarms be avoided as a result of movement of the sensor wires in the absence of an intruder. In the present invention, "V"-shaped plastic tensioners are used on several of the wire support posts in cooperation with wire guides on other posts to provide the requisite wire tension. The plastic tensioners are constructed from pairs of identical elongated arms each having an open loop at the proximal end thereof adapted to snap onto a support post for easy assembly of a security system in a manner which keeps them perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the post and directed tangentially away from the outer surface thereof.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1985Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Inventors: Dale G. Patent number: 4531019Abstract: An insulator arrangement which may be employed, for example, on a capacitive protective fence comprises three principal elements:(1) an insulator, made of ceramic or plastic, having at least one ring-shaped recess arranged on its bottom to form a long path for leakage current;(2) a mounting bracket extending axially downward from the bottom of the insulator which has fastening means on its free end for securing an electric wire; and(3) a metal cup mounted over the insulator to protect it from the environment. A mounting element consisting of two arms forming a U-shaped configuration is arranged on the metal cup to facilitate mounting on a fence post.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Herbert Foissner, Herbert Krautwald, Lutz Minke

Versatile standoff insulator and charged fence array for mounting on chain link fences and elsewhere
Patent number: 4216943Abstract: A versatile standoff insulator for mounting on chain link fences and elsewhere is comprised of first and second shaped insulating members having grooves or passageways between the insulating members for mounting to the links of the fence or other object. The same structure may be mounted directly onto surfaces by conventional fastening means such as nails and screws. The standoff element is provided with a grommet to prevent the wire from wearing and breaking at the suspension points.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1978Date of Patent: August 12, 1980Assignee: Diversified Manufacturing & Marketing Co., Inc.Inventors: George F.
