Patent number: 5566047Abstract: Disclosed is an AC electrical apparatus including a vibrating device and a mounting structure supporting the device. In the improvement, a resilient insulator is interposed between the device and the mounting structure so that vibrations are isolated from the mounting structure. In a highly preferred embodiment, the insulator has a disc-like component between a standoff spacer and the mounting structure. Another such component is between the mounting structure and the head of the bolt which attaching the device to the structure. And a tube-like component of the insulator is between the bolt and such structure.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1995Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Assignee: Ruud Lighting, Inc.Inventors: Michael J. Kahn, Donald Wandler

Patent number: 5448018Abstract: A wireholder includes a main body portion, an attaching portion, and a tool receiving portion. The main body portion is arranged to receive a wire to be secured to a structure. The attaching portion is affixed to the main body portion and has a configuration to facilitate the attachment of the main body portion to the structure. The tool receiving portion is arranged to receive an installing tool. The main body portion has a strength so that torque can be transferred from a power tool to the attaching portion through the installing tool and the main body portion. The installing tool is arranged to break if excessive torque is applied to the wireholder by the installing tool.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1993Date of Patent: September 5, 1995Assignee: Joslyn Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Frederick W. Burtelson

Patent number: 5223674Abstract: The present invention pertains to standoff devices used to hold a circuit board a fixed distance from a mounting surface such as another circuit board. The present invention divides the standoff into two interacting members. The first member has a base and two arms disposed to define a receiving slot between the two arms. The second member is comprised of a head portion, a tapered portion, and a tongue portion. The second member is slidably disposed within the receiving slot of the first member, and is capable of being locked into place in two distinct locking positions within this receiving slot. By sliding the second member from the first locking position to the second locking position, the standoff is locked into place between the circuit board and the mounting surface. The present invention discloses a secure locking system utilizing locking projections and cooperating depressions to accomplish this locking function.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1991Date of Patent: June 29, 1993Assignee: Sun Microsystems, Inc.Inventor: Naum Reznikov

Patent number: 4471160Abstract: An improved electrical terminal designed to eliminate arcing and corona effects has a substantially spherical post with one or more circumferential slots perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the terminal. In one embodiment, each slot is adapted to receive a wire of predetermined gage in a close-fitting wrapped configuration. The outer diameter of the wire does not extend beyond the circumference of the sphere. The number and size of the slots depends on the number and gage of the wire(s) to be connected. More than one wire can be connected in a single slot, either by wrapping the wires concentrically or in parallel planes within the same slot. Solder is applied to the wrapped wires to form a secure, smooth and rounded connection.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1982Date of Patent: September 11, 1984Inventor: James L. Arthur
