  • Patent number: 6815608
Abstract: Sufficient dielectric strength needs to be ensured for the high voltage connection (13-11) of the high voltage electrical equipment such as a pattern generation system for focused ion beam processing and observation (1), without enlarging the equipment. The present invention seals an insulating liquid (13-113a) or gas (13-113b) in the space (13-113) between the connection bushing on the power supply side (13-111) and the flange on the power receiving side (13-112), and applies the water repellent treatment (13-111c) to a surface of the connection bushing or flange on the power receiving side, which the surface faces the space (13-113). Such a configuration provides compact electrical equipment with high dielectric strength, which can prevent the condensation or moisture absorption on the insulation surface in the space of the high voltage connection and can prevent the leakage current increase even under high humidity environment.

Abstract: A transformer includes an end, and electrical insulator bushings are attached to and extend away from the end of the transformer. Conductors extend from the electrical insulator bushings. A cover has openings and an attachment end affixed to the transformer. The cover shields the end of the transformer and the electrical insulator bushings preventing animals from alighting on the end of the transformer and the electrical insulator bushings. The conductors each extend through one of the openings of the cover. The cover has an access panel movable between a closed position and an open position permitting access to the end of the transformer and the electrical insulator bushings without having to detach the attachment end of the cover from the transformer.

  • Patent number: 6465729
Abstract: A method for producing an electrical feedthru wherein a thin liquid conductive film is deposited into a shallow trough of an insulating machinable substrate. The conductive film and substrate are fired and then the resulting bound composite is ground flush with the adjacent surface of the insulating machinable substrate. The surface cohesion of the fired composite, and the resulting high quality surface finish of the grinding operation, combined with an elastomeric seal, create low leakage barriers capable of supporting a pressure differential while allowing isolated electrical conduction across a pressure or vacuum envelope. The method produces a space saving feedthru which allows a high signal line density in a limited space, is relatively simple to assemble, allows for disassembly rework, can be ‘designed into’ unique geometries of varied applications, and which has a single O-ring sealing across all traces.

  • Patent number: 6140573
Abstract: An improved hollow core composite bushing for use in, for example, a dead tank circuit breaker, is smaller and lighter and offers other advantages over previous designs. The hollow core bushing includes therein a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) elongated tube that operates to increase the dielectric constant between a conductor and a transition shield. By placing the transition shield external to the hollow core bushing and providing the FRP tube between the conductor and transition shield, the dielectric constant between the shield and conductor is increased thus allowing the inner diameter of the shield and outer diameter of the bushing to be decreased. In addition, the transition shield may be an integral part of the flange that is mounted to the bushing current transformer support column or interrupter enclosure of the dead tank circuit breaker thus further reducing the diameter and overall size of the bushing. Further, the transition shield may be an integral part of the FRP tube.
