Abstract: Submersible transducer includes a transducer housing configured to be submerged within an aqueous liquid and a pressure sensor operable to obtain data for determining a pressure of the aqueous liquid. The pressure sensor may be disposed within the transducer housing. The submersible transducer also includes a submersible cable having an electrical conductor and a venting tube operably coupled to the pressure sensor. The pressure sensor uses an atmospheric pressure of an external environment that is detected through the venting tube to determine the pressure of the aqueous liquid. The submersible cable also includes a cable jacket and an inner layer that is surrounded by the cable jacket. The inner layer surrounds the electrical conductor and the venting tube. The inner layer includes a non-hygroscopic polymer that is more resistant to absorbing the aqueous liquid than the cable jacket.

  • Patent number: 9787006
Abstract: A cable termination comprises, amongst other things, three insulated cable connection elements which project into a housing and have an internal conductor, and also three phase connection parts which are designed as hollow bodies and likewise project into the housing from a side which is situated opposite the cable connection elements and into each of which one of three cable end reinforcements can be inserted. The cable connection elements and the phase connection parts each form the corners of a triangle. These triangles are rotated in relation to one another in their respective plane, so that an offset is created. In order to bridge the offset, a connecting element is arranged between in each case one cable connection element and the associated phase connection part, the said connecting element being designed such that it can be partially or entirely removed in order to establish an isolating gap.

Abstract: An inventive pressurized cable is provided that simultaneously provides electrical connections and a supply of air, gas, or vacuum to an electromechanical device utilizing an existing connection on the device. The use of an existing cable connection for the supply of air or gas to provide positive pressure or a vacuum condition to an electromechanical enclosure allows for the use of standard electromechanical components without alteration and potential voiding of existing warranties. The present invention finds particular utility in the field of industrial automation where motors are subjected to coolant liquids and other types of contaminants that tend to infiltrate the motor seals, especially when the motor is shut down which causes a negative pressure inside the motor case that draws moisture in. Reactive gasses may be introduced with the inventive positive pressure cable that act to neutralize or condition harmful pollutants generated by the motor such as ozone.

  • Patent number: 7317160
Abstract: A cable or the like protection and guide device is disclosed in which inadvertent disconnection in a coupling portion of a side plate due to the repetition of flexional movements is avoided. Stress concentration is reduced in a flexion portion during restriction of flexional movements whereby excellent endurance on repeated flexion fatigue can be exhibited and in which the number of parts and the assembly operation can be reduced. Plates disposed in a right and left pair are integrally formed by a front side plate portion 111, a rear side plate portion 112, and a flexible coupling portion 113 interposed between the front side plate portion 111 and the rear side plate portion 112. The coupling portion 113 includes a thin plate-shaped central flexion allowable region 113a and base end continuous regions 113b, 113b with gradually increased plate thickness from the central flexion allowable region 113a side toward the front side plate portion 111 and rear side portion 112, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7188642
Abstract: A pull tape for facilitating positioning of elongated items within a protective sleeve is disclosed. The pull tape is woven of filamentary members preferably using a twill or satin weave that allows floats to form on the surface of the tape that reduce friction between the tape and the sleeve when the tape is drawn through the sleeve. Preferably, the tape is formed of multifilament warp and weft yarns woven in a plain weave with additional monofilament yarns arranged in the warp direction and woven in a twill or satin weave to form the floats in the warp direction. Additional embodiments include tapes having warp members entirely of monofilaments, as well as both warp and weft members being entirely of monofilaments.

  • Patent number: 7164100
Abstract: High-frequency AC voltage with a frequency in a range of from 60 to 100 kHz supplied from a power source at 3 to 15 kV is applied to an electrical conductor within about 30 cm of a cableway. The high-frequency AC voltage generates an alternating electric field. Capacitive AC current associated with the alternating electric field flows through the ice on the cableway and on the electrical conductor, causing dielectric loss heat that melts the ice.

  • Publication number: 20040055154
Abstract: Radio frequency cables have a inner circular conductor and an outer circular conductor. The inner and outer circular conductors are usually formed from copper and are separated by a heavy insulation layer usually cellular polyethylene. The outer side of the outer conductor may further be coated with a heavy polymeric insulation layer. In preparing these radio frequency cables for coupling it is necessary to have a flush cut surface. These flush cuts have been effected in the past be sawing, which has proved to be troublesome as metallic particles are dispersed throughout the insulation. The outer conductor may be prepared for coupling by placing a tear collar over the outer conductor and tearing the outer conductor against the tear collar. This tearing creates an integral and desirable flange in the tearing process.

  • Patent number: 6671440
Abstract: A flexible innerduct structure is configured to contain a cable within a conduit. The innerduct structure includes a pair of adjacent strip-shaped layers of flexible material that are joined along their longitudinal edges to define a channel through which the cable can extend longitudinally through the innerduct structure between the layers. The adjacent layers have differing widths between their longitudinal edges, whereby the wider layer bulges away from the narrower layer to impart an open configuration to the channel. Other features of the innerduct structure relate to the material of which it is formed. Such features includes the structure of the material, such as a woven structure, and further include properties such as melting point, tensile strength, elongation, coefficient of friction, crimp resistance and compression recovery.
