  • Patent number: 7188642
Abstract: A pull tape for facilitating positioning of elongated items within a protective sleeve is disclosed. The pull tape is woven of filamentary members preferably using a twill or satin weave that allows floats to form on the surface of the tape that reduce friction between the tape and the sleeve when the tape is drawn through the sleeve. Preferably, the tape is formed of multifilament warp and weft yarns woven in a plain weave with additional monofilament yarns arranged in the warp direction and woven in a twill or satin weave to form the floats in the warp direction. Additional embodiments include tapes having warp members entirely of monofilaments, as well as both warp and weft members being entirely of monofilaments.

  • Patent number: 7173182
Abstract: A signal transmission cable with a connector, that includes a shielded cable having a shielding layer and an insulating coating layer, which cover a periphery of a plurality of insulated wires, and a magnetic powder compound layer interposed between the shielding layer and the insulating coating layer; a connector which is electrically and mechanically connected to at least one end of the shielded cable, and which has a shielding metal cover extending from a housing part to a cable end, the housing part holding terminals to be connected to the insulated wires; and a closed magnetic path core which is fitted on the shielding layer with the insulating coating layer partly removed at the end of the shielded cable. The shielding layer is folded back so as to cover outside of the closed magnetic path core and a tip portion of the shielding layer is connected to the shielding metal cover.

  • Patent number: 7164078
Abstract: An abrasion-resistant jacket for a flexible cable with a cable core and a jacket made of an abrasion-resistant thermoplastic material surrounding the cable core, particularly for a drag chain cable or a robot cable. The jacket includes an inner extruded plastic layer (2) and an outer jacket layer (4). Between the inner plastic layer (2) and the outer jacket layer (4) is a layer (3) of monofilaments made of a chemically and thermally stable material with a visual coverage of 40 to 70%. The outer jacket layer (4) is applied by pressure extrusion, such that the spaces in the layer (3) are almost filled by the material of the outer jacket layer, and the layer (3) adheres to the inner sheath layer (2).

  • Patent number: 7154038
Abstract: An electric cable is configured as a sensor cable, wherein the lead insulation of the cable has a polymer layer. The sensor cable can be produced by, after extruding the raw cable, cutting the cable into individual cable sections in a non-crosslinked state. The sections are then connected to a sensor in an electrically conductive manner. The housing of the sensor consists of a plastic material that is compatible with the lead insulation and that is radiation crosslinkable. The polymers of the lead insulation and the polymers of the sensor housing are crosslinkable with themselves and with one another. A compatibilizer or a reactive terpolymer enabling connection of functional groups between the layers can also be added to the lead insulation and/or the plastic housing. The plastic materials of the lead insulation and the sensor housing are crosslinked in a separate crosslinking process under the effect of high-energy electron radiation.

  • Patent number: 7150655
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for electrically connecting a medical glucose monitor to a glucose sensor set, as well as for testing the operation of the glucose monitor, monitor cable and glucose sensor set are provided. In one embodiment, an electric cable comprises a cable member, a first connector and a second connector. The cable member in turn comprises at least one insulated conductor, a conductive shielding layer disposed around the at least one insulated conductor; and an insulating layer disposed around the conductive shielding layer. A glucose monitoring system test plug provides for a releasable electrical connection with the electric cable. In one embodiment, the test plug comprises a housing and a fitting affixed thereto which is adapted to electrically couple the test plug with the electric cable.

  • Patent number: 7138810
Abstract: A cable includes an inner conductor, an inner dielectric, and a guard conductor, where the inner dielectric is between the inner conductor and the guard conductor. The cable also includes an outer dielectric, and a shield conductor, where the outer dielectric is between the guard conductor and the shield conductor. The cable further includes an additional layer of material between the outer dielectric and the shield conductor of suitable composition for reducing triboelectric current generation between the outer dielectric and the shield conductor to less than that which would occur were the outer dielectric and the shield conductor to directly adjoin each other.

  • Patent number: 7135639
Abstract: A non-stick material coated glass slip layer for use in insulating tapes for electrical conductors. A conductive glass tape is interwoven with a non-stick material coated glass tape to form the slip layer. The slip layer is sandwiched between and inner conductive layer that is in contact with and electrical conductor, and an cater conductive layer that is in contact with machinery, such as a generator. The slip layer allows for a difference of movement between the inner conductive layer and the outer conductive layer without damage to the insulating tape.
