    Abstract: A waferized connector connects to two twinax cables. The connector includes a molded lead frame, ground sleeve, twinax cable, and overmolded strain relief. The lead frame is molded to retain a lead frame containing both differential signal pins and ground pins. Termination sections are provided at the rear of the lead frame to terminate each of the signal wires of the cables to respective signal lands. The ground sleeve has two general H-shape structures connected together by a center cross-support member. Each of the H-shaped structures having curved legs, each of which fits over the signal wires of one of the twinax cables. The wings of the ground sleeve are terminated to the ground lands of the lead frame and the drain wire of the cable is terminated to the ground sleeve to terminate the drain wire to a ground reference. The ground sleeve controls the impedance in the termination area of the cables, where the twinax foil is removed to expose the wires for termination to the lands.

    Abstract: A waterproofing method is provided for a wire to be arranged in a water susceptible area of a vehicle. An insulating coating layer is removed in a lengthwise intermediate part of the wire to expose a core. A heat shrinkable tube with an inner layer made of a hot-melt waterproofing agent is mounted on the exposed core section and parts of the insulating coating layer adjacent to the exposed core section and heated. As a result, the hot-melt waterproofing agent of the inner layer is melted and infiltrates into clearances between strands of the exposed core section. In addition, negative pressure is introduced into the inside of the insulating coating layer from an end of the wire, thereby sucking the waterproofing agent into the inside of the insulating coating layer to infiltrate the waterproofing agent also between the strands of the core inside the insulating coating layer.

In the event that an electrical charge goes to ground via the gas tubing assembly (e.g., lightning strike or appliance short), damage to the gas tubing is prevented by the conductive wire and end connectors providing a low resistance electrical path that allows the current to pass over the gas tubing assembly without the gas tubing itself actually having to carrying the load. This reduces the risk of a rupture in the gas tubing from electrical insult, which could result in fire.

    Abstract: In a ground cable to be applied to an on-vehicle wiring harness or the like, the aim is to make it easy and simple to conduct the waterproofing work. A first sealant 6 of the UV-cure type having as a contact angle with respect to the bare conductor 1a of the ground cable 1 an acute one and a viscosity of 15-500 mPa·s is delivered by drops onto the bare conductor. The first sealant 6 is delivered by drops onto a second sealant 7. The first and second sealants 6 and 7 are irradiated by ultraviolet rays. This permits the first sealant 6 to, without the need to suck-decompress the interior of the ground cable 1, by dint of capillarity, spontaneously permeate into the cable core 1b of the ground cable 1 to be then cured. Even in case where a ground terminal 2 has a pair of ground cables 1 crimped thereonto, each ground cable 1 permits an adequate amount of the sealant 6 to, with ease, permeate it.
