  • Patent number: 11905968
Abstract: To provide a vacuum pump which separates and constructs an inlet port flange and a casing (outer cylinder) as two components to reduce weight while retaining required strength and which is consequently capable of reducing manufacturing cost. In a vacuum pump, an inlet port flange and a casing (outer cylinder) are separated from each other and constructed as different members. The inlet port flange uses stainless steel as a material thereof and the casing (outer cylinder) use aluminum as a material thereof. The components are fastened to each other by bolts and sealed by an O-ring in order to maintain a vacuum property during assembly of the vacuum pump. Accordingly, a weight of the vacuum pump can be reduced while maintaining strength of the inlet port flange.

  • Patent number: 5714717
Abstract: A splice for two or more electrical wires can be made waterproof by introducing a jelly material into a splice body and splice cover made from an electrically insulating material. The jelly prevents the infiltration of water or moisture into the holes of the closed splice body into which the spliced wires are led. The splice body and cover are formed with a plurality of grooves that correspond to each other such that when the splice cover is closed over the splice body, the grooves form the holes into which the electrical wires are led. The splice cover may be in more than one piece. A conducting material is disposed across the interior of the splice for penetrating the covers on coated electrical wires to effect the splice by creating an electrical contact between the main and branch wires. When the splice cover is closed the waterproof jelly spreads over the outer surfaces of the wires.

  • Patent number: 5610369
Abstract: A cable splicing closure includes a base having ports for the entry of cables to be spliced, and a tubular cover for sliding axially over a peripheral surface of the base. The surface is formed with a groove which tapers towards the end from which the cover is applied and which carries an O-ring seal that is engaged by the cover and which rolls along the tapering surface of the groove as the cover is slid onto the base. The O-ring seal is rolled substantially more than 50 percent, but less than 100 percent, of its peripheral length when it is rolled into its final sealed position. Thus, the O-ring will exert a force in a direction urging the tubular cover more firmly onto the base.

  • Patent number: 5461200
Abstract: Long flexible members such as hoses, electric cords and cables tend to be springy and elastic. They are not easily coiled and stored. They tend to straighten out when bent into a desired shape. They tend to tangle and interfere with operations. The invention incorporates an elongate wire element running parallel to the long axis of the flexible member. The wire element is encased in the covering of the flexible member. The wire element is a conformable shape-retaining material such as a compliant soft iron or steel. It renders the entire member shape-retaining so that it may be conveniently coiled for storage or positioned for use. An embodiment for retrofitting an existing flexible member provides the wire element encased in a covering which wraps around a flexible member and then seals closed to form a shape retaining sleeve about the member.
