Abstract: The electrical connector with cure-in-place resin is a twist-on wire connector with integrated resin injection, the resin curing around the enclosed conductors. The resulting connection is permanent, maintaining connectivity and excluding water. At the tip of the body, a sliding cartridge holds a single or multi-part resin within one or more sealed chambers. After the conductors are introduced into the body, and the connector tightened into place, the sliding cartridge is pressed into the body. The sliding causes the cartridge to compress against a piercing tip, causing resin to pass into the body of the connector, curing around the conductors.

Abstract: A method of splicing a rope where the ends of the rope are taped and then cut, leaving a fresh face on both ends of the rope. A length of shrink-wrap tubing is placed over one of the rope ends and slid up out of the way. Next, epoxy is applied to the fresh cut ends, and the ends of the rope are brought together and clamped in a jig. The splice is wrapped in tape while the epoxy cures. Once cured, the tape is removed and the joint cleaned so that the diameter of the splice is the same thickness as the rope. Next, additional epoxy is added to the joint and the shrink-wrap tubing is slid over the splice. A heat gun is used to shrink the tubing. Any excess epoxy is removed with a small knife to complete the splice. The rope is then ready for use.

  • Patent number: 8502076
Abstract: An insulating system for splicing a pair of cables having at least partially exposed non-insulating portions joined with a metallic connector is disclosed. The insulating system includes an insulating tube constructed from a shape memory material having a central section having a substantially elliptical cross-section and a pair of end sections with substantially circular cross-sections. A pair of support cores is removably insertable in each of the end sections for holding the end sections in a stretched configuration. When the insulating system is placed about the cables and the connector and the support cores are removed from the end sections, the end sections return to a pre-stretched configuration, thereby completing a splice of the cables.

The body contains a number of saw-toothed annular ridges. The plug is manufactured from an elastomeric material which allows the plug to be inserted into a conduit opening of a diameter smaller than the diameter of the saw toothed ridges which creates a frictional seal which resists removal of the plug. The plug body further contains passages running longitudinally through the center of the plug. These passages allow cable run through the conduit to be drawn through the plug and inserted through a thin, flexible membrane covering the plug cap.

  • Patent number: 8355615
Abstract: A splice closure and fiber organizer device (10) comprises a substantially elongate body 5 member (12), closure member (16) and a foldable organizer tray (14) for accommodating at least one fiber splice and/or length(s) of excess fiber. The organizer tray which includes a plurality of fold lines (21) provided by respective living hinges is capable of being wrapped around part of the bodymember, into a generally cylindrical or part cylindrical shape, to close or partially close the closure. The fold lines enable the organizer tray to be folded into an extra 10 dimension, from a flat planar structure into a generally cylindrical or part cylindrical shape. This enables the closure to be more compact without compromising the bend control radius characteristics of the organizer tray. By restricting the minimum bend radius of the organizer to that of the fiber to be used bend control of installed fiber can be readily achieved. The device is particularly suitable for use in FTTX applications.
