  • Patent number: 10131516
Abstract: A method of splicing a rope where the ends of the rope are taped and then cut, leaving a fresh face on both ends of the rope. A length of shrink-wrap tubing is placed over one of the rope ends and slid up out of the way. Next, epoxy is applied to the fresh cut ends, and the ends of the rope are brought together and clamped in a jig. The splice is wrapped in tape while the epoxy cures. Once cured, the tape is removed and the joint cleaned so that the diameter of the splice is the same thickness as the rope. Next, additional epoxy is added to the joint and the shrink-wrap tubing is slid over the splice. A heat gun is used to shrink the tubing. Any excess epoxy is removed with a small knife to complete the splice. The rope is then ready for use.

Abstract: The present invention provides a safety device for protecting a person from an electrical shock while working on a live electrical wire connected to a terminal within an electric meter or circuit breaker box. The safety device comprises an inner cylinder slideably engaged within an outer cylinder and a spring disposed between the two cylinders for extending the outer cylinder axially outwardly with respect to the inner cylinder. The cylinders are made of nonconducting material. The inner cylinder engages insulation that covers the wire proximate to a bare end of the wire, which is connected to the terminal by a screw. When the person loosens the screw and the wire becomes disconnected from the terminal, the spring forces the outer cylinder outwardly to cover the bare end of the wire, which helps to protect the person from electrical shock.

The cable mastic patch is disposed on an interior surface of the longitudinally extending portion and extends transversely across the longitudinally extending portion. The cable mastic patch is configured and positioned to engage the cable section and form a continuous environmental circumferential seal about the cable section when the wrap-around sleeve is wrapped around the cable section.

Abstract: A push plug designed to interact with and seal an open end of a length of conduit containing a cable. The plug is comprised of a cap, a neck, and a body. The body contains a number of saw-toothed annular ridges. The plug is manufactured from an elastomeric material which allows the plug to be inserted into a conduit opening of a diameter smaller than the diameter of the saw toothed ridges which creates a frictional seal which resists removal of the plug. The plug body further contains passages running longitudinally through the center of the plug. These passages allow cable run through the conduit to be drawn through the plug and inserted through a thin, flexible membrane covering the plug cap.

Abstract: A splice closure and fiber organizer device (10) comprises a substantially elongate body 5 member (12), closure member (16) and a foldable organizer tray (14) for accommodating at least one fiber splice and/or length(s) of excess fiber. The organizer tray which includes a plurality of fold lines (21) provided by respective living hinges is capable of being wrapped around part of the bodymember, into a generally cylindrical or part cylindrical shape, to close or partially close the closure. The fold lines enable the organizer tray to be folded into an extra 10 dimension, from a flat planar structure into a generally cylindrical or part cylindrical shape. This enables the closure to be more compact without compromising the bend control radius characteristics of the organizer tray. By restricting the minimum bend radius of the organizer to that of the fiber to be used bend control of installed fiber can be readily achieved. The device is particularly suitable for use in FTTX applications.
