  • Patent number: 8389877
Abstract: A process for weighing successive flexible filled packs, without conveyance of the packs being stopped and without the conveyance suddenly decelerating, to weighing device which holds and transports the packs in suspension to a delivery position; the weighing process including measuring by a scale the weight of the assembly formed by the weighing device and the weight of the conveyed pack or packs, the average speed of the conveyance of the packs and/or the length of the conveyed distance being selected such that during a predetermined time period a single pack is held and conveyed in suspension by the weighing device. The weighing device for the packs includes first and second endless belts between which holding portions of the packs to be weighed are introduced, and the suspended packs are conveyed by the movement of the endless belts.

  • Patent number: 7279644
Abstract: A series of products, such as bacon packages each having bacon slices carried by a card, are successively conveyed across an endless conveyor weighing scale to determine the weight of each product, and the products are then conveyed by an endless conveyor along a linear path through an inspection station. An elongated scrolling message display unit extends adjacent the linear path, and information characters corresponding to the weight of each product travel on the display unit in synchronism with the flow of the product on the conveyor to provide an inspection person with sufficient time to correct the weight of each off-weight product by adding or removing items from the product. A photosensor detects the leading edge of each product and cooperates to synchronize the location of weight information characters displayed on the display unit.

  • Patent number: 6900397
Abstract: Method and system for the weighing of sheets (6) of wood material on a sheet forming line, on which line the sheets are carried on a conveyor from a sheet forming apparatus and cooled down in a cooling turn gear comprising a cooling wheel (3) provided with radial supporters (5). The sheets (6) are weighed using a weighing system (8) which has been fitted in the cooling turn gear and which weights the sheets (6) when they are turned to an upright position or at least to a nearly upright position. The invention makes it possible to leave out the conveyor weight meter from the press line, thus allowing the press line to be made shorter. The weighing accuracy is substantially better than in a conventional conveyor weight meter solution because only the sheet itself is weighed instead of weighing the relatively heavy conveyor together with the light sheets on it.

  • Patent number: 6770823
Abstract: A system for check weighing the content of a blister strip which includes a guide adapted to receive a blister strip comprised of at least one blister, a punch aligned with the guide for receiving the at least one blister, an actuator engaged with the punch for driving the punch toward the blister strip, whereby the blister is punched from the blister strip, and a balance adapted to receive the punched blister for weighing the punched blister and generating a weight signal after subtracting a predetermined value representing the weight of an empty blister. An alternative method of determining the content of a blister strip comprises reflecting a beam of energy off of a blister strip and determining the height of the blister from the reflected energy. The measured height is compared to a predetermined height to derive the amount of powder contained therein.

  • Publication number: 20040026134
Abstract: The invention is a device and means that reduces the amount of overloading and under-loading of plastic grocery bags. A bag rack has a scale attached to its base with the scale connected to an indicator. The plastic bag rests on the scale which weighs the contents of the bag as they are being added. The indicator checks the weight of the contents of the bag. If the contents are under the targeted weight an indicator is lit, when the targeted weigh is reached another indicator is lit, and if a “not to exceed weight” is reached a warning indicator is lit.

  • Patent number: 6441321
Abstract: An apparatus and method for continuously producing constant weight portions of semi-solid matter, such as bread dough, from a large mass through a dividing mechanism whereby variations in the weight of each portion are minimized by providing a signal proportional to the weight of a dough portion, or group of dough portions in order to automatically adjust the rate at which dough is fed to the dividing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6137066
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for weighing moving objects wherein at least two measurements are carried out with respect to each object by means of separate weighing machines (1, 2), whereupon an average value is computed by a calculating unit (5) as the result of the weighing operation. The invention is intended for weighing mobile objects, such as vehicles (10) designed for road or rail-bound traffic, or for in-line weighing operations to weigh products on a conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 4586575
Abstract: A measuring apparatus such as a scale comprising a weighing platform module, an evaluation module including a microprocessor, and a connecting cable for operatively connecting the modules, the apparatus being operable in at least two (2) different operating modes such as a weighing mode, a calibration and adjustment mode, and a servicing and diagnosis mode, has a plug and socket connection between the modules which, when connected, sets the apparatus in a predetermined one of the operating modes, conveniently the weighing mode. The currently operative mode is automatically determined by the plugging in or unplugging of the connector cable with or without an intermediate plug. This ensures simple and substantially error-free operation of the apparatus.
