Abstract: A liquefied gas amount measuring device includes an electronic display, a retractable cylinder, a grip element, and a hooking lug. The retractable cylinder includes a cylinder body having a retractable rod fitted with a spring at an intermediate section thereof placed therein. One end of the retractable rod extends out of the cylinder body for suspension of the hooking lug to pull out the retractable rod so as to compress the spring in the cylinder body to generate a resilient force after release of pulling force. The other end of the retractable rod that extends out of the cylinder body has a conductive elastic plate bent therefrom at a suitable position. A detecting circuit board is erected in the cylinder corresponding to range of displacement of the elastic plate moved by the retractable rod when pulled. A plurality of detecting circuits on the circuit board are connected when pressed by the elastic plate.

  • Patent number: 6268573
Abstract: A portable postal scale for determining whether the weight of a letter exceeds the maximum for a given amount of postage, for example, one ounce. The scale comprises an elongated beam having a letter holder, a fulcrum, a leveling assembly and a preloaded portion and a wedge shaped piece. The letter holder comprises two upward facing arms forming a narrow slot for holding the letter to be weighed in an upright position. The leveling assembly, which allows the scale to be used on an unlevel surface, comprises a leveling bubble with scribe lines. The portion of the beam from the fulcrum to the end opposite the letter holder is the preloaded portion that has sufficient weight to balance the beam when a letter of predetermined weight is placed in the letter holding slot. In use, the end of the beam opposite the letter holder is placed on top of the wedge shaped piece, which is moved forward or backward until the leveling assembly is level.

Abstract: This portable mailing scale is a small, economical, and accurate balance-type weight-scale, especially suitable for measuring light weight, such as letters, to determine correct postage. Because the scale is of the balance-type, its accuracy is far better than those of the spring-type, especially under light load. Although scales of the balance-type usually require a trial and error leveling or balancing operation and thus are less convenient to use than those of the spring-type, this invention does not require such cumbersome leveling operation. Therefore, this invention combines both the accuracy of balance-type scales and the ease of use of spring-type scales.

  • Patent number: 4785897
Abstract: A weighing device for attaching to the handle of a fish landing net or gaff has a tubular inner housing telescopingly received within a tubular outer housing, with a spring received between an annular collar centrally located on the inner housing and an internal shoulder on the outer housing. An "O" ring located on the side of the collar opposite the shoulder acts as a shock absorber and abuts a retaining ring that limits the travel of the collar in a direction away from the shoulder. A second shoulder spaced from the first shoulder acts to limit movement of the collar toward the first shoulder. A friction retaining adaptor attached at an end of the inner housing secures the net or gaff handle to the inner housing, and scale markings on the other end of the inner housing, which can be zeroed to eliminate the weight of the net or gaff, serve to indicate the weight of the fish.
