Rack Connection Patents (Class 177/174)
  • Patent number: 5731548
Abstract: A big dial platform scale includes a scale base. A weight sensing apparatus is supported on the base including a weight supporting platform movable relative to the base and a weight sensing mechanism responsive to movement of the platform for moving a beam. A weight indicating apparatus is supported on the base for rotation relative thereto for indicating weight on the platform. A pinion is operatively connected to the weight indicating apparatus for rotating the weight indicating apparatus. A rack is movably supported on the base and operatively engages the pinion for rotating the same. A spring rope is connected between the beam and the rack for transferring movement of the beam to the rack to drive the weight indicating apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4893685
Abstract: The scale of the present invention has a housing with a recess in its upper surface to allow rotative movement of a pointer therein. Numerals corresponding to weight are disposed an an annular disc-shaped dial carried by the upper periphery of the housing. A transparent cover plate overlies the recess in which the pointer rotates. The recess, pointer and dial are arranged and dimensioned so that the pointer and numerals can be easily read by a user from a standing position. The dial and cover are flush with the outer edge of the housing so that the entire upper surface of the scale is easy to clean and comfortable.

  • Patent number: 4159041
Abstract: Encoder assembly for use with a dial type scale. The assembly includes a base, a bearing mounted on the base which is mounted in the scale in place of one of the bearings for the indicator shaft, and a pinion and shaft which replace the pinion and shaft of the scale. An encoder disc is mounted on the shaft, and means responsive to light passing through the encoder disc is mounted on the base for providing an output signal corresponding to the rotational position of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4119162
Abstract: A kitchen weighing balance has a scale carrier, rotatably adjustable about a vertical axis, which provides a dial face having therein a plurality of graduated scales for co-acting with an angularly movable weight indicator pointer visible through a transparent window. At least some of the graduated scales are grouped in radially spaced relationship in different angular segments of the dial face and are calibrated in weight equivalent calorie units or standard bulk volume units for different pre-selected groups of foodstuffs, and they can be selectively brought into co-acting relationship with the pointer, throughout the operative range of pointer deflection, by positional adjustment of the scale carrier. The scale carrier is a circular ring mounted on a circular base frame of the balance casing which protrudes radially with respect to an upstanding central tubular portion enclosing the weighing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4098364
Abstract: A weight measuring apparatus, wherein a weight sensitive element is connected to a metallic moving member of a weight sensitive element displacement-to-electrical inductive transducer. The moving member is made as a plate positioned in the clearance between two inductance coils of said transducer secured on the casing, their windings being arranged on armour cores. The winding of the first inductance coil is connected to a high-frequency oscillator, whereas the winding of the second inductance coil is electrically connected to a metering circuit. The weight measuring apparatus is characterized by high accuracy of measuring, quick action and high resolution.

  • Patent number: 4084650
Abstract: A spring balance comprises an object-receiving plate cooperating with a weighing spring and with a movable rack meshing with the pinion of a rotatable graduated disc cooperating with a fixed index. Zero-setting and calibration of the balance are provided independently. Firstly, the rack is set to a zero position, then the disc is independently set to indicate zero. A reference weight is placed on the plate, and the balance calibrated to indicate the exact weight by varying the transmission ratio of a transmission lever between the weighing spring and the rack. This transmission lever has an arm of adjustable length which, when the rack is in the zero position, is perpendicular to the direction of movement of the rack.
