Abstract: The current application discloses a non-contact, non-radioactive densitometer system, comprising a curved tube containing an oilfield fluid, a mass measuring device connected to the curved tube, and a data acquisition system connected to the mass measuring device. The mass measuring device measures the mass of the curved tube and the data acquisition system calculate the density of the oilfield fluid in the curved tube. In one embodiment, the non-contact, non-radioactive densitometer system further comprises an antilog amplifier that is connected between the mass measuring device and the data acquisition system, where the antilog amplifier transforms the mass of the curved tube into an exponential value which is then fed into the data acquisition system.

Abstract: A scale is provided which includes a support plate for holding a mass to be weighed, and an electrical switch device for selecting or dialing a function of the scale. The electrical switch device has a capacitive proximity switch with an electrode disposed on the support plate. The capacitive proximity switch monitors an ambient capacitance of the electrode, and reacts solely to the approach of an object (such as a human foot) whose dielectrical properties are different from those of the stationary environment of the proximity switch.
Abstract: A scale with a transiently visible display includes: an enclosure having an upper surface; a measurement device disposed in the enclosure; and a display coupled to the measurement device and attached to the enclosure beneath the upper surface, the display displaying a measurement value only when the display is an active state. Activation of the measurement device places the display in the active state whereas deactivation removes the display from the active state. The enclosure obscures the display from visibility when the display is not in the active state. Optionally, the scale may include a facade beneath the upper surface and a shutter adjacent the facade and covering the display, the shutter being coupled to the measurement device. The shutter opens to reveal the display during activation. The enclosure obscures the facade and the shutter from recognition when the measurement device is not in the active state.

Abstract: The present invention is a wheelchair scale adapter comprising a substantially planar platform defining a cut out near a center and side walls and a rear wall respectively projecting upwardly therefrom, and having legs adjustably attached thereto for providing added stability, particularly when loading and unloading a wheelchair from the platform; an access ramp hingedly connected to the front of the platform for allowing a wheelchair-bound person to be wheeled onto the platform; a typical bathroom scale, etc., attached to the lower surface of the platform; the invention being adapted for weighing a wheelchair and an occupant which has been wheeled onto the platform. The invention also comprises a ramp mounted on the platform, and associated linkage, for causing the access ramp to rotate upwardly out of contact with a surface on which the invention rests, so as to give a more accurate reading of the weight of a person and wheelchair on the platform.
Abstract: An improved mixing scale, such as a paint mixing scale, includes a base which supports a scale pan in a substantially horizontal position. The scale pan supports a receiver container for holding the contents of that which is to be weighed. The mixing scale also includes a backing member which extends upwardly from the base and includes an output display near a top end of the member for presenting the measurement values produced by the scale. Proximate to the output display is a visual flow monitoring device, such as a reflector. Placement of the reflector proximate to the output display allows a user of the mixing scale to monitor the measurement value presentation and the flow of an additive being delivered into the receiver container simultaneously, or at the very least without requiring a physical shift in position by the user which might otherwise disrupt the delivery operation.
Abstract: Weighing apparatus including a stability display indicator (SA) arranged adjacent the load read-out display (RA) for indicating when the movement of the load-receiving member relative to the housing has diminished to a quasi-stable condition within a given tolerance range, thereby to shorten the time required to perform one or more weighing operations. An automatic standstill detector (ASD) contains a control system which, upon change of a tolerance range display, for example, by darkening or illuminating individual indicators matched up with the tolerance ranges, signals the moment at which the load receiving member achieves a given quasi-stable standstill condition.
Abstract: An air spring load monitoring system provides a vehicle operator with an on-board visual display of the load distribution imposed on each axle from front to rear of a truck and trailer, and displays differential loads imposed from side to side across each axle as a result of local overloading caused by unequal load distribution. Pneumatic transducers produce analog output signals proportional to the internal air pressure of each air spring as an accurate indicator of payload distribution. Load data is presented by load display groups in which visual display elements are positioned in spaced relation along a scale representative of a predetermined air spring load range. The visual display elements of each group are positioned in side by side relation for visual comparison to each other and to the scale. Each visual display element is representative of a predetermined load range increment.

Abstract: In the field of off-highway trucks, overloading and disproportionate load placement lead to undesirable vehicle stresses. The present invention pertains to an apparatus for displaying the distribution of the load, in an off-highway truck, to both the truck operator and the loader operator. The information is conveyed to the operators using displays having varying color ranges generally indicative of the load in portions of the dump body of the truck. Using this tool the truck operator attains optimum positioning of the truck prior to and during the loading cycle, while the loader operator directs loads to portions of the dump body having lower displayed loads.

Abstract: The specification discloses a balance for measuring a load. This balance uses an electronic or optical transducer and a parallelogram support for the load to be weighed. The parallelogram linkage uses one or more torsion bars to resiliently support the load, wherein the deflection of the parallelogram is proportional to the weight of the load. When used with a capacitance transducer, the parallelogram linkage also enables the capacitor plates to remain parallel to one another as the parallelogram is loading, thereby producing a signal that can be electronically processed to provide a liner digital read out signal on indication of weight. Electronic data processing means as provided to calculate and display on indication of weight and/or volume. An optional opitcal indicator means is also disclosed to provide an optical reading of the weight of the load.
Abstract: When a measuring instrument normally displaying digital values by selective energization of a multi-segment display is used to furnish only qualitative information as to the relationship of the measured value to a reference value or values, the result is indicated only by the position on the display of a horizontal line. Since the change in position is limited by the position of the top and bottom segments constituting the digital display, the read-out of these conventional scales is difficult, particularly when carried out from different angles. To eliminate this problem, a reference mark or marks are supplied. The position of the weight dependent marks relative to the reference mark is clear, eliminating read-out errors. The reference mark may be a permanent mark on a transparent sheet mounted in front of the display. Alternatively, the reference marks can be created by activation of segments in places of the display not required for generating the weight dependent marks.
Abstract: A weighing device is disclosed which comprises a frame, a pan element for supporting a load to be weighed, a channel member connected to the pan for retaining a plurality of weight elements in a vertically movable manner, a motor supported within the frame and a shaft member operatively connected to and extending from the motor, the shaft member including a spring for supporting the pan element. A plurality of collapsible support members are secured at one end thereof to the frame and each have at their opposite ends a device that is adapted to receive and lift one of the weight elements when the support member is in an extended and non-collapsed position. A camming arm is secured to the shaft member and extends in a direction toward the support members. A switch is provided for energizing the motor when the pan is depressed by a load.
Abstract: An electronic weighing apparatus includes a switch mounted on a base surface thereof, actuated by an actuating member biased to support a portion of the base. When weight is applied to the apparatus, the actuating member is moved to a depressed position, thereby automatically energizing the apparatus. In addition, a tab is mounted to the base near the switch. Vertical forces can be applied to the tab to depress the actuating member without disturbing the zero position of the weighing apparatus.Furthermore, the apparatus includes an optical coded disc with a plurality of concentric code tracks. A light guide conducts light to a line on the disc which is parallel to but offset from a radius of the disc. Photosensors are positioned on the other side of the disc, opposed to the light guide.
Abstract: A body weight scale system with historical display. The system includes a transducer for generating a succession of digital weight signals representative of a user's body weight at a succession of points in time. The system further includes a data entry device which provides time signals representative of the points in time associated with the various weight signals. A data processing network stores the time and weight signals, selectively extracts those signals and generates display signals representative of the body weight of the person as a function of time. A display is responsive to the display signals to display information representative of this time function.

Abstract: A weighing scales has a base and a platform supported by the base and adapted to support an individual. A transmission mechanism within the base is responsive to movement of the platform for causing pivotal translation of a graduated transparency. A beam of light from a light source is projected along an optical path through the transparency and reflected to a projection screen carried by the platform for read-out of weight. The light source is carried on a support plate which is mounted to the base by means disposed at two points on a line at least substantially parallel to the optical axis and coincident with the optical axis substantially at a fixed axis of the graduated transparency. The transparency is pivotally mounted on the support plate and presents a convex face toward the light source.
