Load Comparing Type Patents (Class 177/200)
  • Patent number: 4629016
Abstract: In known methods of initializing a balance with counting scale a given quantity of the pieces to be counted is placed on the balance at the same time and the average individual weight is calculated therefrom and used as a base for the following piece counts. In contrast thereto, the invention suggests that the pieces be placed individually on the balance and that the standstill of the balance be waited for after each placing of a piece. This makes it possible to also calculate the standard deviation in addition to the average value and statements concerning the counting precision can be made which are based on known statistical laws, so that counting errors can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 4624331
Abstract: A load sensor includes a scale cell for producing an output signal corresponding to the weight of an article, and a dummy cell, provided near the scale cell, for producing a noise signal output ascribable to floor vibration. A correcting circuit extracts a signal proportional to a DC component contained in the output signal of the scale cell and, on the basis of the extracted signal, corrects the output signal of the dummy cell to the noise level of a floor vibration component of the scale cell. The corrected dummy cell noise signal is added in opposite-phase relation to the scale cell output signal, so that the floor vibration noise contained in the scale cell output signal is cancelled out by the corrected noise signal of the dummy cell.

  • Patent number: 4605083
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separately weighing, by means of a common scale, contributions of material from multiple streams, such materials typically being printed papers, such as from a printing press. Material that is to be weighed, which is typically waste material, is loaded into receptacles or the like for temporary storage thereof and is subsequently and sequentially released into a storage bin or the like associated with the common scale. An increase in measured weight associated with each respective material release or discharge is then determined. From each weight increment associated with one of the multiple streams, is added to provide a total count corresponding to weight and associated with each, one of the individual streams of the multiple streams of material. In this way, separate count totals are maintained and continuously updated for a plurality of different corresponding deliveries but using a common scale and associated storage bin or container.

  • Patent number: 4405024
Abstract: A weighing device uses frequency measurement to determine weight. One body (3; 23; 68) is of known mass and another body (8; 28; 66) also of known mass is spring (9; 29; 83) connected to it. This body carries the load whose mass is to be determined. Both bodies can oscillate in one mode in an effectively isolated system, being carried by springs (2, 13; 22, 33; 65, 67) from a support (1; 21; 60, 62). The oscillations are electromagnetically generated, but when a certain amplitude is attained the drive is cut off and the system resonates freely. The frequency varies with the mass of the bodies, and so a load on one can be weighed by reference to the frequency, which can be detected through the electromagnetic means (12, 32, 76) which provided the initial drive pulses.

  • Patent number: 4258811
Abstract: Electric mass and force measuring apparatus which includes two force transducers, one of which provides an electrical output signal which is proportional to the gravitational force acting on the mass to be determined, and the other providing an electrical output signal which is proportional to the gravitational force of a known mass. A signal processor responds to both of the electrical output signals and provides an output signal which represents the unknown mass. The force transducers are of the type which respond only to a force component acting in a predetermined direction, and are supported in a common frame in a manner which insures that the predetermined directions of the transducers are parallel to each other. The force transducers are preferably of the beam type and include a beam which is freely deflectable at one end and rigidly secured to another beam which extends freely to the side of the first-mentioned beam, while also being shorter than such first-mentioned beam.

  • Patent number: 4219089
Abstract: An electronic counting scale, which may comprise a single relatively compact unit including all operable elements; or which may be based upon a modular construction including, firstly, an electronics unit which includes all basic electronic circuitry necessary to operation; and, secondly, a base unit. The base unit in the modular construction, includes the load cell, associated mechanical linkage, the weight receiving platform, and the like. It is adapted to directly receive the electronics unit, and includes connector means for enabling electrical interconnection with the electronics unit, and means for mechanically coupling the base unit to the electronics unit. The load cell is a parallelogram-type flexure frame, and is characterized by four strain gauges, which are located at the upper and lower surfaces of two vertically overlying flexure corners of the parallelogram. This arrangement--because of symmetry considerations--is uniquely free of second-order errors generated by offset loading.

  • Patent number: 4212361
Abstract: Conventional electrical scales having independent weighing channels for a reference weight and the actual load with subsequent division of the resulting load signal by the reference signal to furnish the final output cannot furnish a final output signal independent of accelerating disturbances in a large critical frequency region, since changes in load change the dynamic behavior of the load channel. To substantially decrease variations in the final output signal due to such accelerating disturbances, the load signal is additionally coupled to the reference channel by means of at least one frequency-dependent network.

  • Patent number: 4157738
Abstract: A method for counting the number of articles or goods of the same kind using a weighing machine which comprises a step of measuring an average or mean weight of sample articles, a step of measuring a weight of all articles to be counted and a step of calculating the number of the all articles by dividing the measured weight by the mean weight. Said step of measuring the mean weight includes a step of measuring a temporary mean weight a.sub.1 of a known small number of articles P.sub.1, a step of adding any unknown number of articles P.sub.2, a step of measuring a weight W.sub.1 of these articles P.sub.1 plus P.sub.2, a step of calculating the number N.sub.1 of the articles by rounding off a quotient obtained by dividing the weight W.sub.1 by the temporary mean weight a.sub.1 and a step of calculating a standard mean weight a.sub.2 by dividing said measured weight W.sub.1 by said calculated number N.sub.1.

  • Patent number: 4139070
Abstract: Counting scale utilizing two platforms connected to a single load cell for determining the weights of a sample and an unknown quantity of articles to be counted. The weights are combined to determine the number of articles, and this number is displayed. One of the platforms is connected directly to the load cell and is particularly suitable for weighing small loads. The other platform is connected to the load cell through a lever system and is particularly suitable for larger loads. Depending upon the size and the number of the articles to be counted, either of the platforms can be used for weighing either the unknown quantity or the sample, or both. A keyboard is included for entering a weight such as the weight of a container so that the weight of a group of parts in a container upon one of the platforms can be determined without removing the parts and weighing the container separately.

  • Patent number: 4043412
Abstract: Counting scale and method utilizing a single load cell for determining the weights of both a sample and an unknown quantity of articles to be counted. The weights are combined to determine the number of articles, and this number is displayed. The platform of the scale is mounted on and supported by the load cell in a system requiring no levers, pivots or other moving parts. Weight readings are averaged on a moving average basis, and with no load on the scale, any drift is cancelled by increasing or decreasing the weight readings in small increments during successive counting cycles to maintain an accurate zero reference.
