Abstract: In one embodiment, a touch sensor includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and a spacer layer located between the first electrode and the second electrode. One of the first electrode and the second electrode is a drive electrode to which a drive signal is applied. The other one of the first electrode and the second electrode is a receiving electrode that receives the drive signal by a mutual capacitance between the first electrode and the second electrode. When an external pressure is applied to the first electrode through a display, the first electrode is concavely bent toward the second electrode. The mutual capacitance between the first electrode and the second electrode changes according to a distance between the first electrode and the second electrode. The magnitude of the external pressure according to the change of the capacitance between the first electrode and the second electrode is detected.

Abstract: A test circuit is incorporated in an IC without an increase in a chip area. The IC includes a plurality of pins, a plurality of current sensing circuits, and a current generation circuit. The plurality of current sensing circuits process currents flowing through the plurality of pins in parallel and generates digital data, for example. The current generation circuit includes a capacitor and generates a reference current corresponding to the amount of electric charge of the capacitor. The amount of electric charge can be controlled by a voltage input to the capacitor, and thus the range of output currents for current generation can be made wide. The reference current is used for testing the plurality of current sensing circuits. The IC is used for a source driver IC of a display panel, for example. In this case, currents flowing through pixels in the display panel can be sensed by the plurality of current sensing circuits.

Abstract: A circuit includes a force driver configured to apply a force signal to a force node associated with a mutual capacitance to be sensed. A sensing circuit receives a sense signal from a sense node associated with said mutual capacitance to be sensed. The sensing circuit operates to generate an output signal indicative of the sensed mutual capacitance. A control circuit controls generation of the force signal to alternate between at least two different frequencies and generate said output signal for each half cycle of the force signal.

Abstract: Improved sensing can include modified sampling and/or processing to improve performance against noise due to environmental variations and interference. In some examples, improved interference rejection can be achieved by sampling a sensor multiple times during settled periods. In some examples, the excitation signal and sampling window can be dynamically adjusted to satisfy drift and/or interference specifications based on various operating conditions or the operating environment. In some examples, drift performance can be traded off to improve interference performance. In some examples, improved immunity to environmental variations can be achieved by equalizing sensor outputs in accordance with characterization of the sensing system. In some examples, improved performance can be achieved by sampling the sensor continuously and using an optimized window function to improve performance against noise.
