Braking Controllable By Passenger Patents (Class 180/325)
  • Patent number: 8588997
Abstract: A control circuit for operating the lights of a vehicle. In one embodiment, the rear lights of the vehicle are controlled by the control circuit. The control circuit illuminates two or more of the vehicle lights in a common pattern to indicate a specific vehicle operation. When the vehicle simultaneously performs two operations, the controller may transition the lights to illuminate in different patterns to clearly indicate the separate vehicle operations. The controller may further provide for adjusting the light intensity of one or more of the lights. The lights may be adjusted to have a similar intensity to prevent confusion when the different lights are used in combination to indicate a vehicle operation.

  • Patent number: 8464821
Abstract: A regenerative braking system is provided. The regenerative braking system includes at least one energy storage medium operably connected to a coupler. The coupler is operable to selectively couple and decouple the energy storage medium with a drive train of motor vehicle, or an electric generator, or a combination of both. A control arrangement governs the operation of the coupler. A sensor of the control arrangement is operable to determine information relating to the relative deceleration and acceleration of the motor vehicle and send said information to the controller. The controller is operable to determine the amount of energy storage medium or mediums to be coupled to the drive train via the coupler.

  • Patent number: 6676149
Abstract: A head pipe that supports a handle for a scooter type vehicle is covered with a front cover. Article container boxes are disposed in an upper portion of a rear side of the front cover, and a parking lever is disposed below the article container boxes. Accordingly, an opening of each article container box can be made larger and it is possible to increase the capacity of each container box. Large article container boxes can be disposed in the front cover and in the vicinity of the handle. A parking lever can be disposed in the front cover and in the vicinity of the handle at a position permitting a vehicle rider to easily reach and operate the lever without requiring any forced motion.

  • Patent number: 5775456
Abstract: Disclosed is an emergency driver system for a motor vehicle. The emergency driver system allows a passenger in the motor vehicle to safely maneuver the motor vehicle should the driver become incapacitated by exposing a brake actuator and an accelerator actuator concealed by a cover. Upon opening the cover, a cover sensor actuates emergency lights, headlights, and a horn, and disengages the operation of the driver brake pedal and accelerator pedal. This allows the passenger to control the steering with the left hand and the acceleration and braking of the motor vehicle with the right hand, via the brake actuator and the accelerator actuator positioned on an emergency control panel located under the cover.

  • Patent number: 4446950
Abstract: A creep control valve for keeping vehicle brakes applied is under the control of a digital electronic system which senses the vehicle speed and whether the accelerator pedal is depressed or released. The creep control is enabled only after the vehicle speed is between 3 and 24 miles per hour and then drops below 6 miles per hour with the accelerator pedal released. The creep control is disabled whenever the accelerator pedal is depressed or the vehicle speed is above 6 miles per hour or there is a failure of the speed resolver which senses the vehicle speed. The creep control includes a key-operated anti-theft circuit which keeps the brakes on if an incorrect key is inserted.

  • Patent number: 4351404
Abstract: A combination car system is made up from a first car and a second car, both of which are capable of running independently. The first car includes a pair of front wheels by which it is driven, a pair of rear wheels, and a first wheel braking element which provides braking performance for the first car when it is displaced. The second car includes a pair of front wheels, a pair of rear wheels by which it is driven, and a second wheel braking element which provides braking performance for the second car when it is displaced. When the cars are running independently, displacement of a brake pedal in the first car is transmitted by a first displacement transmission mechanism to the first wheel braking element, and displacement of a brake pedal in the second car is transmitted by a second displacement transmission mechanism to the second wheel braking element.
